Chapter 52 Saving the Day

Nighttime.

Due to the arrival of the Hero Party and others, the entire Elven Race was decked out in lanterns and streamers, singing and dancing.

There wasn't a single sign of the 'forced' slumber they had been in just moments ago due to the arrival of the Red Moon phase.

Renée remained in her room, neither stepping out nor turning on the lights.

In the darkness, she curled her delicate body up on the bed, feeling as though she had been deceived.

Perhaps.

From the day she was born, deception had already been following her like a shadow.

Outside.

The moonlight was like water, rippling across the lake.

The firelight danced, free and fervent.

Inside.

The young girl's tears soaked her pillow.

"Nina... you stinky boss..."

The next day.

On the altar, everything was ready.

The Hero's Sword was suspended in mid-air by several ribbons of light within the Formation.

It only needed to descend at the necessary moment and pierce the body of the chosen one, and a new Sword Spirit would be successfully born.

With that, it would once again become a complete sword, capable of unleashing its true power.

In the small cottage where she had lived for nearly a hundred years.

Under the service of several elven maids, Renée put on the most magnificent ceremonial dress.

She did not resist, acting like a marionette, letting others do as they pleased with her.

The young girl had once fantasized about wearing it on her wedding day; she would surely have been the happiest girl in the world then.

But things did not go as planned...

On the very last step out of the room, Renée paused.

Her gaze turned to the elven sister beside her who had taken quite good care of her since she was little.

"Sister Yami, did you... did you know about this all along?"

What she was referring to went without saying.

Yami dared not meet Renée's eyes and silently lowered her head.

"I am sorry, Your Highness, but the Queen said this is the guidance of the divine oracle, an inevitable fate..."

Renée gave a miserable laugh.

"No need to say more, I understand."

Amidst the sound of gongs, drums, and music, Renée walked toward the altar step by step.

Heavy and numb.

In the crowd.

Kevin's eyes lit up involuntarily when he saw the young girl's stunning makeup and attire.

Although he hadn't spent a night of passion with her last night.

Fortunately, the Elf Queen was understanding and had specifically ordered two equally beautiful elven girls to attend to him in bed.

Kevin was quite satisfied with this.

The treatment of Lord Hero should be exactly like this!

"Kevin, your eyeballs are about to fall out onto that woman!!"

"What? Haven't you had enough fun with two elven women last night? You want a few more, is that it?"

As a member of the Hero Party, Kingdom Princess Milian Biller raised her willow-leaf eyebrows and angrily pinched Kevin's ear.

Beside them, Nun Memi Dodd of the Church of Light also said with a smile.

"Lord Kevin, staring at a girl like that is very impolite!"

Kevin hurriedly defended himself (begged for mercy).

"I wasn't thinking anything like that!"

"She is destined to be sacrificed to become the Sword Spirit of the Hero's Sword; I wouldn't bother having bad thoughts about a Sword Spirit without even a physical body."

The situation here naturally caught Renée's attention.

This was also the first time she had truly seen the so-called Lord Hero.

Blue hair, under twenty years old, somewhat handsome.

Wearing specially crafted steel armor, surrounded by beautiful women...

But that was all there was to it.

Even... [He's not even as good as that stinky boss, Mu An!]

Renée withdrew her gaze, and at the same time, this thought couldn't help but bubble up in her heart.

[I'm sorry...]

[If my identity weren't that of an Elf Princess, would our ending have been different?]

[But... it's a pity, there are no 'ifs' in this world!]

[I am a princess of the Elven Race, having received the kindness of the Elven Race, and I also shoulder the hopes of the entire Elven Race.]

[Which means it is destined that I cannot act according to my own will!]

The young girl took her final step and stood still.

Looking up, the Hero's Sword hung high above her head, its sharp tip glinting with a cold light.

...

Under the gaze of everyone.

The Elf Queen began her speech before the sacrifice.

"Renée Dorothea is the one chosen by the divine oracle."

"Although she is my daughter, I will not show any favoritism."

"Everything is for the sake of defeating the Devil King and saving the world."

"If one person's sacrifice can be exchanged for the survival of thousands, this is her honor as a princess of the Elven Race!"

Below.

The members of the Hero Party were not overly saddened.

To be precise, they were long accustomed to it; everything had to be prioritized around their ability to defeat the Devil King.

Facing the gazes cast by the elves, Kevin proudly puffed out his chest.

Nun Memi Dodd also whispered a reminder to the red-haired girl who was still stuffing her face at the banquet table.

"Young Miss Vivian, please mind your image!"

"Mm, I know, anyway, it definitely won't affect your image..."

As she said this, Vivian continued to stuff her face while moving a bit further away from Kevin and the others, not forgetting to keep a big chicken leg in her mouth.

Nun Memi was somewhat helpless.

Strictly speaking, the other party was not an official member of their Hero Party and was currently in the evaluation period.

Putting aside the fact that the girl liked to stuff her face too much and often let it affect her combat.

Relying on that miraculous, super-strong defensive magic, everyone was reluctant to let her leave.

"Embarrassing! Hmph!"

Kingdom Princess Milian Biller snorted coldly.

In her view, Vivian was completely a disgrace to their Hero Party.

She didn't care about her image at all when stuffing her face; she wasn't ladylike in the slightest.

Every day she was either sleeping or eating, just like a pig in a pigsty!

Vivian glanced at her.

"Not eating anymore; it doesn't taste good at all."

Immediately, she glanced in a certain direction and left the table directly.

Such impolite behavior infuriated Kingdom Princess Milian, and she silently made up her mind to kick her out of the Hero Party if given the chance.

Their Hero Party didn't need such a glutton!

On the other side.

The Elf Queen's speech also reached its end.

Next, they only needed to let the Hero's Sword descend above Renée's head, and it would be over.

"Witnessed by countless people."

"Princess of the Elven Race, Renée Dorothea, please offer your life... and let the Hero's Sword be reborn!"

However.

An abrupt voice suddenly rang out.

"Oi, old woman, what are you muttering about?"

"What rebirth? Your senior here does not agree!"

Mu An's figure suddenly appeared on the altar.

And appearing alongside him was Nina.

The young girl quickly stepped forward and immediately hugged Renée tightly.

"Sister Renée, we've come to save you!"

Renée was clearly stunned, having no idea where the two of them had 'popped out' from.

Even though she had previously witnessed Mu An's 'teleportation magic,' there should have been 'white light' when teleporting over.

Why was there not even the slightest sign now?
