115: Chapter 115 The Chase

In the forest beneath the torrential rain, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed man lay prone on the muddy ground, his face twisted in endless terror.

A horizontal saber wreathed in golden flames had pierced his back from above, pinning him firmly into the mud.

The golden flames seemed alive, extending from the wound where it had pierced him, snaking toward his limbs like chains to bind him.

The torrential rain was useless against the flames; the water evaporated from the intense heat as soon as it came within two meters of them.

"Damn it!" Ghost Sha roared, mobilizing the massive amount of Yin Qi within his body to desperately extinguish the Pure Yang True Fire on his body.

Although the Pure Yang True Fire was the nemesis of Ghosts, it was like a duckweed without roots; under the grinding wear of the massive Yin Qi, it ultimately could not hold out.

After persisting for a few seconds, the chains of True Fire shattered.

Freed from the restraints, Ghost Sha scrambled up from the ground in a sorry state, grabbed the blade of the blazing blood saber, and pushed it out.

Under a tree not far away, a Cow Cat lay on a protruding root, its fur standing on end as its small head shrieked toward a certain direction in the sky.

The sky was much darker now than before; it wasn't because the dark clouds had thickened, but because night was beginning to fall.

A faint glimmer of golden light appeared in the vast, torrential rain. At first, it was only the size of a grain of rice, but in the blink of an eye, it had expanded to the size of a fist.

In the span of a breath, the golden light slammed down from afar, splashing a large amount of mud onto Ghost Sha's face and drenching the Cow Cat under the tree into a drowned rat.

[This meow hates water! Energy Points + 555!]

Human-like anger flickered in the Cow Cat's eyes, but hindered by the opponent's strength, it could only silently lower its proud head.

Once the mud settled, it became clear that the golden light was a golden silhouette.

It was Lu Siye, who had chased him down after breaking through the Ghost Wall.

[How could he have gotten here so fast! Energy Points + 999!]

Ghost Sha, having just pushed the blazing blood saber out of his body, saw Lu Siye and an expression of terror instantly appeared in his eyes.

"Run, keep running. Why aren't you running anymore?" Lu Siye looked up at Ghost Sha, a playful expression on his face.

The blazing blood saber that had fallen to the ground flew back into Lu Siye's hand under the control of his Internal Energy, and the golden Pure Yang True Fire once again covered the blade.

"Lu... Lu Siye, spare me. I can swear never to attack anyone from the Evil Suppression Bureau again." Ghost Sha instinctively took two steps back.

[...]

He couldn't handle Lu Siye even in his prime, let alone now that he had consumed too much of his Yin Qi just to escape.

As long as the green hills remain, there's no need to worry about firewood; staying alive is the most important thing.

So he decisively chose to submit.

"Do you know what the greatest respect for an enemy is?" Lu Siye suddenly asked.

"What?" Ghost Sha asked instinctively.

"Meow?" The Cat Spirit was also curious.

"It's to wipe them out completely, you idiot!" A speechless expression appeared on Lu Siye's face. Did he look like the type of person to let a tiger return to the mountain?

Before his words had even faded, a golden wave of Saber Qi, like a waterfall, slashed toward Ghost Sha.

"You..." Ghost Sha was furious; he had been played again.

Massive amounts of Yin Qi covered his palms. Ghost Sha roared, grabbed the Saber Qi, and used both hands to tear it apart.

The moment the Saber Qi was ripped open, a flash of blade light shone from beneath him.

Swish!

A saber mark, deep enough to see bone, ripped through Ghost Sha's entire chest from bottom to top.

"Ah!" Ghost Sha screamed and hurriedly dodged backward.

"You've gotten weaker!" Lu Siye mocked, closing in again.

"This is what you forced me to do!" Ghost Sha roared.

"You've already said that. Besides, even if I did force you, so what?"

A crazed look appeared on Ghost Sha's face. Although it wasn't fully night yet, the dark clouds overhead made it no different from the middle of the night.

He reached for the oil-paper umbrella, the cursed object that had always been shielding his head. He grabbed the body of the umbrella with one hand and the handle with the other, then snapped it hard.

Snap!

The oil-paper umbrella instantly broke into two pieces. Endless Yin Qi gushed out from inside, flowing into his body through the wound on his chest. His previously waning aura began to rise rapidly.

"You dare damage my cursed object?!" The fury in Lu Siye's eyes was almost tangible.

A Top-tier Fierce Ghost-level cursed object was worth tens of thousands of points in the Evil Suppression Bureau. He had long since marked that oil-paper umbrella as his own trophy.

He had originally planned to take this cursed object and see if he could trade it at the Evil Suppression Bureau for a dozen or twenty blazing sun pills.

But now his trophy was gone, his tens of thousands of points were gone, and the blazing sun pills that could greatly accelerate his Cultivate were also gone!

The Yang Qi and blood in his body began to boil. Two flames of Yang Qi appeared on his shoulders, and Lu Siye's aura began to climb steadily.

"If you can die peacefully today, I'll take your last name," Lu Siye said coldly.

"That's what I should be saying!" Ghost Sha threw away the oil-paper umbrella in his hand. His current aura was several degrees stronger than when he was in his prime.

He was now overflowing with confidence, feeling that he could smash Lu Siye's head with one punch.

Simply put: The sky cleared and the rain stopped; Ghost Sha felt he could do it again.

Bang!

An invisible wave of energy exploded around the two, and in the blink of an eye, they had engaged in close-quarters combat dozens of times.

The extreme speed combined with immense power made the destructive force of their every strike incredibly powerful.

Afterimages of them were everywhere in the forest, and every collision and exchange caused large swaths of surrounding trees to explode and the ground to collapse.

The ground shook violently, as if an earthquake of magnitude seven or higher had suddenly erupted.

It even slightly affected Tianhai City, over a dozen kilometers away.

This is why most Fierce Ghosts open a Ghost Wall before fighting.

It was not only to trap the enemy and weaken their five senses, but more importantly, to mask their own aura and the fluctuations of the battle to avoid attracting more enemies to surround them.

However, Ghost Sha couldn't care about that anymore. Today, either Lu Siye dies, or he does!

"Meow~"

Amidst the debris filling the sky, a Cow Cat was sent flying by the shockwave, its four paws frantically scratching at the air.

It looked as helpless as an ordinary little cat.

[Mommy! This meow wants to go home!! Energy Points + 999!]

"Holy crap, what is that?" Fang Lanyue, who had arrived late, had just reached the scene when she saw a black-and-white unknown creature flying toward her face.

She instinctively activated a Ghost Wall, immediately shrouding herself within it.

With a splat, the Cow Cat slammed hard into the Ghost Wall. The entire cat stuck tightly to it, pausing for a second or two before sliding down slowly like a cat pancake.

After landing, the Cow Cat immediately perked up and scurried behind the Ghost Wall to prevent itself from being caught in the crossfire of the two freaks again.

Not long after, the battle fluctuations in the distance began to gradually weaken; it looked like one side was about to be defeated.
