97: Chapter 97 The Young Man on the Road (Happy May Day everyone!)

After a long while, the crimson blade in Lu Siye's hand dissipated, and he stood up with a calm expression.

At this moment, a layer of water two to three centimeters deep had accumulated on the floor of the room, and two blue-black kidneys were placed in the water.

The Eyeless Fierce Ghost on the ground was not dead, but he was no different from being dead.

He lay on the ground with a look of utter hopelessness, his face devoid of any attachment to life.

If Lu Siye hadn't placed two Life-Death Talismans inside his body, constantly interfering with his control over the Yin Qi within him, he would have likely self-destructed and died long ago.

"What a pity. I thought an Eyeless Fierce Ghost could hold out a bit longer, but it turns out his endurance is not much different from that of a vicious Ghost."

Lu Siye pursed his lips, speaking as if he were still unsatisfied.

[I didn't hear anything, I didn't hear anything! Energy Points +999!]

Fang Lanyue, who was facing the corner in contemplation, was trembling like a sieve, silently thanking the Great Demon King for sparing her life earlier.

Hearing the notification sound in his ears, Lu Siye couldn't help but look toward Fang Lanyue in the corner.

The energy points she had just provided him were not much less than those from the Eyeless Fierce Ghost.

He then shifted his gaze, activated the Dragon Capturing Skill, and reached out with a beckoning motion; the blazing blood saber stuck in the ground flew instantly into his hand.

Injecting scorching Yang Qi and the extremely rigid and Yang-aligned Nine Yang True Qi into the blazing blood saber, Lu Siye swung the blade directly at the Eyeless Fierce Ghost.

Finally, liberation!

The Eyeless Fierce Ghost looked at the incoming blade light and slowly closed his eyes.

[Ding~ Eyeless Ghost (Fierce Ghost) killed, Energy Points +1000!]

...

"There's a Ghost, help!"

In a pitch-black alley, a pale-faced young man was running panic-stricken toward the alley entrance.

He kept turning his head to look behind him, as if something terrifying was chasing him.

Seeing that the bright lights at the entrance of the alley were less than twenty meters away, and hearing the loud sound of police sirens in his ears, the young man's eyes lit up, as if he had seen hope.

The young man ran for his life, successfully rushing out of the alley and arriving under the bright streetlights.

He turned to look behind him, where a white shadow flashed by, making him shiver all over in fright.

At the same time, a patrol vehicle approached from not far away, and the young man hurried to meet it, shouting for help while running.

Screech~

A harsh screech of brakes sounded, the patrol vehicle stopped steadily beside the young man, and several Public Security Officers quickly stepped out of the car.

"What's wrong?" one Public Security Officer asked, walking up to the young man.

The young man, as if he had seen a lifeline, immediately hid behind the Public Security Officer, grabbing his clothes while pointing one hand toward an alley not far away.

"There's a dirty thing there, a white shadow has been following me." The young man said tremblingly, his tone filled with fear.

The several Public Security Officers exchanged glances. Two of them, who possessed an extraordinary aura, placed their hands behind their backs and slowly walked toward the alley.

Seeing the two enter the alley, an inexplicable look appeared in the young man's eyes.

A white slip of paper drifted out from him and floated into the clothing of the Public Security Officer he was holding onto.

The two Public Security Officers' attention was entirely on the alley, and they did not notice this.

A few minutes later, they walked out of the alley with calm expressions and returned to the patrol vehicle.

The two Public Security Officers cast questioning glances at them.

They shook their heads slightly, walked up to the young man, and said to him: "There is nothing in the alley. You must have seen it wrong!"

"Is... is that so?" the young man said, half-believing and half-doubting.

"Sometimes it's inevitable to be suspicious when walking alone at night. It's alright now." The Public Security Officer whom the young man was holding onto turned around to comfort him.

"I'm sorry, I've really troubled you!" The young man seemed to believe it, and an embarrassed expression appeared on his face.

"Alright, it's not very safe late at night. You'd better hurry home!" They added, then boarded the patrol vehicle and drove off into the distance.

Inside the car, with no outsiders present, the driving Public Security Officer asked: "The person from just now?"

"Just a Grudge Ghost, it's nothing!"

"I see!"

A few minutes later, they arrived at the entrance of a hotel and stopped, and the four of them got out of the car.

They had originally come after receiving a call from the hotel receptionist reporting a suspicion that people upstairs were gathering for illicit activities, but they had encountered a small interlude on the way.

The front desk receptionist saw the Public Security Officers arrive and hurried to meet them.

"Are the people still upstairs?" the leading Public Security Officer asked the receptionist.

"Yes, they are. I've been guarding here and haven't seen them come down." The receptionist replied quickly.

"Hmm!" The Public Security Officer nodded.

"You two go up by the elevator; we will go up by the stairs," the leading Public Security Officer said to his colleagues.

"Alright!"

This hotel only had two elevators and one staircase; the four of them were enough to block the criminal suspect's escape route.

They did not encounter the fleeing suspect on the way as they had imagined, and the group quickly arrived in front of Room 404.

Just as the receptionist was holding the room card and preparing to open the door, the two Public Security Officers who hadn't spoken a word rushed to the door and stopped the receptionist.

"Is there a problem inside?" The leading Public Security Officer's expression changed as he watched their reaction.

"Yes!" The two nodded with serious expressions.

These two were no ordinary Public Security Officers; they were Night Patrol Envoys specially arranged by the Evil Suppression Bureau for the Public Security Bureau to assist in missions in response to the Spiritual Energy Revival.

And now that the two of them had such expressions, it meant that there was a high probability of a Ghost existing inside.

"Besides this room, are there any other rooms occupied on the fourth floor?" The leading Public Security Officer calmed down and asked the receptionist.

"No! Perhaps most people feel that the number 4 is unlucky, so there are usually not many people staying on the fourth floor." The receptionist shook his head.

"Alright! Give me the room card, you go down first. No matter what sounds you hear later, do not come up." The Public Security Officer said to the receptionist, feeling relieved.

"Alright!" Although he didn't know what was happening, the receptionist was sensible enough to choose to obey.

He handed the room card to them and then quickly took the elevator back to the first floor.

After the receptionist left, the two Night Patrol Envoys took the room card and waved at the other two, signaling them to stay further away.

After the two retreated more than ten meters, the two Night Patrol Envoys took out two Golden Light Talismans from the cloth bags under their Public Security Officer uniforms and stuck them on their bodies.

"Heaven and Earth Mysterious Sect, root of all Qi. Cultivating through ten thousand kalpas, verifying my Divine Ability..."

As the incantation finished, two streams of golden light covered their entire bodies.

The two looked at each other, held the room card, and prepared to open the door cautiously.
