40: Chapter 40 Reencounter with Hei Ming
"Damn it!" On the rooftop, Lu Siye stared at the light cluster below, gritting his teeth and cursing.
Three whole hours! Three entire hours!
From the West District to the South District and then to the city center, the Ghost-Headed Infant seemed to know someone was still tailing it, leading Lu Siye on a wild goose chase for half the night, leaving him to drink the cold night air for hours.
However, in order to completely eradicate the scourge that was Hei Ming, Lu Siye gritted his teeth and decided to endure it.
Small patience brings about great plans!
Finally, after another half hour or so, the Ghost-Headed Infant's route showed a slight change.
It began to move, intentionally or not, toward the North District. This change made Lu Siye perk up, and he immediately followed quietly.
The further they went into the North District, Lu Siye noticed that the other party's path became increasingly straight.
Finally, upon arriving at a deserted road in the suburbs of the North District, the Ghost-Headed Infant crawled out from a sewer manhole.
At this moment, it was covered in filth, the mud on its hands and feet nearly caked on.
The Ghost-Headed Infant cautiously observed its surroundings for a moment, and after confirming there were no people or surveillance cameras, it stumbled into a self-built house by the side of the road.
"You're back? How did the task go?" In the living room of the house, Hei Ming sat cross-legged on the floor, black mist surging around his body.
On the floor beside him, a mysterious Formation emitting an eerie red glow had been drawn with fresh blood.
In the center of the Formation was a chubby little boy who looked only three or four years old.
At the edge of the Formation were a young man and woman who had fallen unconscious from excessive blood loss.
Their wrists had been slashed, and blood was constantly flowing out, only to be absorbed by the Formation.
"Master! The mission failed. Not only has that man's injuries fully healed, but his strength has also had a new Breakthrough. I barely made it back," the Ghost-Headed Infant said pitifully.
"Hm? You actually fought him?" The black mist around Hei Ming was retracted. He opened his eyes, glanced at the Formation on the ground, and then noticed the Ghost-Headed Infant's empty arm and mud-covered body.
Now, both of them were one-armed men!
"Ye... Yes!" The Ghost-Headed Infant nodded, biting the bullet.
"Trash. I sent you to ambush a severely injured Night Patrol Envoy, and you actually gave the other party time to recover."
Looking at the Ghost-Headed Infant's miserable state, Hei Ming didn't offer any comfort; instead, he berated it relentlessly.
"Yes, yes, yes, this little ghost is trash!" The Ghost-Headed Infant trembled as it lay on the ground, its twisted baby face pressed against the floor.
Its life was in the other party's hands; when it was time to be cowardly, it had to be cowardly.
However, while it was submissive with its words, it was very indignant in its heart.
I'm trash, I'm just a small evil ghost, so it's normal that I couldn't beat him, but you are a Night Wanderer—did *you* win?
"Hmph! Once this Star Lord completes the Formation and restores my arm, I will go settle the score with that damned human." After observing the Formation for a while, Hei Ming let out a cold snort.
"By the way! You trash didn't lead that person here, did you?" Hei Ming suddenly turned his head to look at the Ghost-Headed Infant. When mentioning that person, he felt his wounds throb with pain.
"No... definitely not. This little ghost specifically ran around the sewers for half the night. Even if that person had heaven-defying abilities, it would be absolutely impossible for him to have followed," the Ghost-Headed Infant raised its head and said with a fearful expression.
"Oh~ is that so? But I *did* follow." As the words fell, Lu Siye appeared abruptly in the living room, wielding his blazing blood saber.
Before they could even react, a massive force slammed into Hei Ming's chest, sending him flying.
Just as Hei Ming was about to crash through the wall, Lu Siye suddenly appeared behind him and kicked him, sending him back to his original position, pinning the Ghost-Headed Infant beneath him.
"Cough, cough!" A painful coughing sound rang out. Hei Ming propped himself up and climbed to his feet, looking forward to see Lu Siye.
"Master, you're not hurt... hiss..." The Ghost-Headed Infant also scrambled up, gasping at the sight of Lu Siye.
The man and the ghost suddenly felt their scalps go numb, and their shoulders began to ache faintly. With a tacit understanding, they retreated to the window, ready to bolt at any moment.
[Gao Song is terrified: You trashy Ghost-Headed Infant, how dare you betray me! Fear Value +748!]
[The Ghost-Headed Infant is still shaken: How could this killing star have followed us? Fear Value +99!]
Suddenly, the Ghost-Headed Infant felt a chill on its scalp. It looked up and met Hei Ming's eyes, which were filled with fury.
The Ghost-Headed Infant's heart trembled, and it put on a pitiful expression.
Master, if I say I knew absolutely nothing about this, would you believe me?
But Hei Ming's eyes, filled with a mixture of anger and fear, gave it a very straightforward answer: I don't believe a damn word you say!
Meanwhile, Lu Siye stood by the mysterious Formation, looking at the three people on the ground with suppressed rage in his eyes.
In the center of the Formation was the polite little boy he had seen at the rice noodle shop that morning, and beside him were the young couple.
He still remembered the sweet taste of the White Rabbit Creamy Candy the little boy had handed him.
"Damn it!" Lu Siye was burning with rage. He stomped his foot, and scorching blood energy and Yang Qi radiated from his body, covering the Formation.
Sizzle~
The moment the mysterious Formation came into contact with the blood energy and Yang Qi, it emitted a strange sizzling sound. A few seconds later, the eerie red glow faded, and the Formation was completely erased.
While he was busy dealing with the Formation and unable to attend to them, Hei Ming and the Ghost-Headed Infant seized the opportunity to leap out of the window, disappearing into the night.
Lu Siye glanced out the window but didn't bother pursuing them.
In that initial punch that struck Hei Ming's chest, Lu Siye had already silently injected a Life-Death Talisman into his body.
They couldn't run!
He hurried to the young couple's side, using his blood energy to temporarily seal the wounds on their wrists. He also left a trace of blood energy within them and the little boy to ensure they wouldn't die in the short term.
Afterward, Lu Siye carried the family of three to the sofa and channeled his Internal Skill to absorb the lingering Yin Qi in their bodies.
After finishing all this, Lu Siye took out his phone, found Wang Wenjing's contact information, and gave her a call.
After a moment, she answered, and her familiar voice came through.
"What is it, Brother Lu?" Wang Wenjing's breathing sounded a bit unsteady, as if she had just finished a battle.
"Are you still in the North District?" Lu Siye remembered that Wang Wenjing lived in the North District.
"Yes! Brother Lu, are you in the North District right now?" Wang Wenjing guessed Lu Siye's location instantly.
"Yes! I'll send you a location. There are three innocent people here in critical condition. If you have time, come over. I still have some business to attend to!" Lu Siye looked at the family on the sofa and explained briefly.
"Okay!" Wang Wenjing didn't waste words and hung up directly.
The next second, his phone received a message from her—it was a map pin, located in the suburbs of the North District, less than three kilometers away from her.
'I'll be there in under a minute.'
'Good!'
After receiving the message, Lu Siye walked to the window and stood there, squinting his eyes as he watched the two tiny light clusters in the distance.
