63: Chapter 63 The Hidden Family – The Yuan Family
In the Bashu Basin, surrounded by mountains, there lies a forest shrouded in fog all year round with a chaotic magnetic field.
Ordinary people who enter this forest, without exception, will lose their way within it.
Although these lost individuals are eventually found unconscious on the ground outside the forest.
Over time, local rumors began to spread that mountain gods, Essence Spirits, and other such entities lived in the forest, and it was named the Lost Track Forest.
But what the world does not know is that neither mountain gods nor Essence Spirits reside in the Lost Track Forest; instead, it is home to an ancient Hidden Family — the Divination Yuan Family.
Within the Lost Track Forest, there is such a village.
The land is flat and vast, the houses orderly, with fertile fields, beautiful ponds, and mulberry and bamboo groves. Paths crisscross, and the sounds of chickens and dogs can be heard. People come and go, farming, with men and women dressed just like outsiders. The elderly and the children all appear contented and happy.
This existence, which resembles the Peach Blossom Spring described by Tao Yuanming, is the place where the descendants of Yuan Tiangang have lived in seclusion for generations.
The entire village's houses, fields, and roads are laid out in the shape of a Bagua. In the very center of the village stands an altar several meters high, with eight stone pillars standing in eight directions atop it.
Beneath the stone pillars sat eight elderly people in different attire, appearing frail and aged.
Below the altar, over a hundred villagers surrounded the area to stand guard, each of their faces extremely solemn.
When a bright moon rose to the very center of the night sky, the eight Elders beneath the stone pillars opened their eyes simultaneously, their deep gazes appearing as if galaxies were flowing within them.
"Rise!"
At the command of the Elder located at the Qian position, the Bagua patterns on the altar began to light up gradually, using the eight people as nodes.
In the blink of an eye, the patterns on the altar were fully illuminated. Eight rays of light in different colors rose from the stone pillars, merging in the air to form a pitch-black semi-circular barrier that shrouded the entire altar.
Dots of starlight gradually lit up on the barrier, and within a few breaths, the originally pitch-black barrier transformed into a starry sky.
When the barrier was formed, the expressions of the villagers standing guard around it visibly relaxed, and some began to whisper to one another.
"Do you think the Elders' divination will be successful this time?" a young man was the first to speak, unable to hold back.
"That is hard to say. For such great matters of Heaven and Earth, one can only obtain a glimpse of the heavenly secrets when the timing is near," a middle-aged woman beside him shook her head and said.
"However, the force obstructing the heavenly secrets this time is not strong, and the Formation started very smoothly. I suppose the timing is nearly upon us," another middle-aged man said.
"I only hope that the tragedy from several decades ago will not repeat itself!" An old man leaning on a cane stroked his long beard, a look of anger appearing on his face.
"Rest assured! Decades ago, the Dynasty was corrupt, but this time it will absolutely not happen again..."
Before the words could be finished, an abnormality appeared in the starry sky barrier above the altar.
A blood-red moon appeared abruptly above the barrier. In an instant, the starry sky shook, and all the stars burst forth with bright light.
"Seven days from now, the world will undergo a great change. All descendants of the Yuan Family, quickly notify the Evil Suppression Bureau in every region and have them prepare early." Not long after, an old and weak voice came from within the barrier.
"Yes!" All the young people outside the barrier cupped their hands in acknowledgment, and in the blink of an eye, they all vanished from around the altar.
...
"Grandpa, your grandson is calling you to wake up!"
"Grandpa, your grandson is calling you to wake up!"
"..."
At nine o'clock the next day, the phone on the table suddenly rang; it was the alarm Lu Siye had set the night before.
After retracting the Yang Qi in the living room, Lu Siye reached out and turned off the alarm.
Interlocking his fingers, he raised his hands above his head to stretch, his whole body emitting cracking sounds.
Today was the day he and Class Monitor Tang Wenlin had agreed to meet for the class reunion, so naturally, he needed to prepare in advance.
Lu Siye stood up and walked into the bathroom to take a shower.
After showering, Lu Siye walked into the bedroom, dried his hair, and went to the wardrobe.
Looking at the few sets of clothes in the wardrobe, Lu Siye felt a bit troubled instantly.
Which one should he wear?
Standing in front of the wardrobe for ten minutes or so, Lu Siye hesitated to pick out any clothes.
To tell the truth, like most men, he didn't know how to dress well.
After agonizing for a long time, Lu Siye ultimately chose the suit he had bought back when he was looking for a job.
After putting away the fellow hiding in the lingming jade and peeking, Lu Siye put on that suit.
"Hiss, it feels a bit tight!" Lu Siye pulled at his collar uncomfortably.
This suit was bought when he was still in school. Back then, he was relatively thin, not like now, where after practicing the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Art, he had grown a body full of well-defined muscles.
Suits are inherently slim-fitting garments, so after his physique changed, there was a big difference when wearing it.
With no other choice, Lu Siye had to undo the second button, which finally made him feel a bit more comfortable.
Coming to the mirror, looking at the shirt that he was wearing like a tight-fitting garment, the corners of Lu Siye's mouth twitched uncontrollably.
And with two buttons undone, he actually looked a little bit roguishly handsome.
Dawdling in front of the mirror until ten o'clock, Lu Siye seemed to resign himself to his fate, took a pair of sunglasses out of the drawer, and then left the bedroom.
Arriving at the entrance of the residential complex, Lu Siye glanced at his phone; no driver had accepted the order yet.
"Holy crap, Lu Siye, you're dressed so sharply, are you planning on going on a blind date?" Inside the security booth, Captain Li poked his head out and asked with a gossipy look on his face.
"No way, Uncle Li, I'm just going to a class reunion," Lu Siye responded speechlessly.
Blind dates were impossible; women would only affect the speed at which he drew his blade.
"I understand!" Captain Li flashed him an "I get it" expression and then retracted his head.
What exactly do you get!?
Lu Siye had a face full of black lines, and looking at the Didi on his phone that still had no driver accepting the order, he felt even worse.
After a while, he didn't wait for a driver to accept the order, but instead, he waited for a red luxury car.
"Big Brother Lu, why are you standing here?" The luxury car's window rolled down, revealing Wang Wenjing's cute and sweet face.
"I was planning to go to Fuhai Hotel for a class reunion, but I haven't been able to hail a car until now," Lu Siye shrugged and said helplessly.
"Is that so? Then get in, I'll take you there," Wang Wenjing smiled sweetly and pointed to the passenger seat.
"Then I'll trouble you, Little Sister Wenjing!" Lu Siye glanced at the time and agreed.
After canceling the order on his phone, Lu Siye opened the door, got into the passenger seat, and habitually fastened his seatbelt.
Although with his current Physical Body strength, even if the entire car were totaled in a crash, he wouldn't be hurt, so wearing a seatbelt or not made no difference.
"We're off!" Wang Wenjing shouted playfully and stepped on the accelerator.
