87: Chapter 87 The Corpse Demon Grandpa

"Sir! Sir?" Nurse Yue'er called out to the old man who had his back turned to them, but she received no response.

Seeing no reaction, the two of them exchanged a look and began to approach slowly.

The closer she got, the more familiar Nurse Yue'er found the figure in front of them, as if she had seen it somewhere before.

When they reached the side of the old man, both of them suddenly stiffened, their eyes instantly filled with panic.

"Yue... Yue'er, look!" Nurse Xiaojia raised her hand tremblingly, pointing at a refrigerator unit that had been opened at some unknown point.

The previously opened refrigerator unit had been blocked by the old man, and they only saw it when they walked to this side.

They instantly felt a cold wind blow against their backs, and goosebumps rose all over their bodies.

Yue'er stiffly turned her head and looked at the old man's wrist; a red string was tied there.

As nurses, they were no strangers to this red string; in this hospital, before every corpse was placed in a unit, a red string would be tied around its wrist.

Just at this moment, the old man suddenly turned his head, and an extremely pale face looked toward them.

Their bodies began to tremble. As nurses, they were not unfamiliar with corpses, but the feeling this old man gave them was just like facing a corpse.

Suddenly, Nurse Yue'er finally remembered the identity of the old man before them; it was the migrant worker sent from the construction site yesterday.

She remembered very clearly that not long after the old man was sent here, he passed away because resuscitation was ineffective!

The opened refrigerator unit, the red string tied to the wrist, the corpse that could turn its head—everything pointed to one thing.

That was that a reanimation had truly occurred!

"Ah!!!"

A heart-wrenching scream suddenly rang out. Their legs went weak, and they collapsed onto the floor. Extreme fear turned into tears that welled up and spilled out, uncontrollable.

Crackle!

The lights in the Morgue suddenly flickered. After a momentary darkness, the reanimated old man had vanished from where he was standing.

At the same time, a chill struck from behind them.

Their thoughts froze in that instant. Their crashed brains did not stop to think about anything; they just instinctively and slowly raised their heads.

They saw an old face mere inches away. A faint scent of corpse rot rushed toward them, and they could even see the fine hairs on that face.

Boundless fear rushed over them like a tide, submerging them. The cold gradually invaded their bodies, and everything before their eyes began to blur.

Bang!

The door to the Morgue exploded instantly. A huge noise erupted against their eardrums, and a young girl carrying a large hammer on her shoulder rushed out amidst the flying debris.

"Eighty!"

The girl instantly arrived in front of the reanimated old man. With a roar, she swung the large hammer heavily into his face, smashing half of his head out of shape.

The immense force sent him flying directly backward.

Just as the reanimated old man was about to crash into the refrigerator unit, a figure appeared behind him as if teleporting and caught him.

"I say, Yue'er, how can you use such heavy force on an old man! You need to respect the elderly and cherish the young, understand?"

Hearing the young voice behind him, a trace of emotion appeared in the old man's eyes.

"Sorry about that, Grandpa. My subordinate didn't know any better and smashed your head out of shape. Your neck seems to be crooked, too; I'll fix it for you right away!" Lu Siye moved to the front of the old man and straightened his head.

"Thank you, young..."

Before the old man could finish his sentence, a heavy slap was delivered directly to his other, intact cheek.

Slap!

The crisp sound echoed in the Morgue. The old man's head spun rapidly, his neck almost twisted into a pretzel.

The old man, even as a Ghost, was stunned. The hell? What happened to respecting the elderly and cherishing the young? Is this your way of respecting the elderly and cherishing the young?

Do you know how much damage a heavy slap causes to a newborn Ghost?

[Corpse Ghost Grandpa is furious, Energy Points +99!]

Yo! As expected, provoking is much easier than intimidating!

Lu Siye's eyes instantly lit up, and he enthusiastically said to the old man, "Sorry, Grandpa. I used a bit too much force just now; I'll fix it back for you!"

[You call this using a bit too much force? You're beating me to death! Energy Points +99!]

"Kid, you are..."

Slap!

Still not waiting for him to finish, another heavy slap was delivered, and the Yin Qi inside his body instantly became chaotic.

Corpse Ghost Grandpa's head spun again like a spinning top. After the neck untwisted, it was twisted into a pretzel from the other direction.

[The hell...]

"Sorry, Grandpa. It's all my fault; I accidentally used too much force again. But don't worry, this time for sure it won't happen!" Lu Siye said with an embarrassed expression, then raised his arm again.

"Don't..."

Slap!

"Stop!"

Slap!

"What? Don't stop? Alright!"

"Not..."

Slap!

"You're look..."

Slap!

"Please..."

Slap, slap, slap!

After a dozen or so heavy slaps, Corpse Ghost Grandpa's brain was already mush, and he had completely lost the ability to think.

Seeing that Corpse Ghost Grandpa was no longer producing Energy Points, Lu Siye flicked his finger, and a miniature golden flame landed on Corpse Ghost Grandpa.

A fierce flame erupted instantly, igniting Corpse Ghost Grandpa into a human torch. In the blink of an eye, only a handful of ashes remained on the ground.

[Ding! Corpse Ghost Grandpa (Evil Ghost) has died, Energy Points +100!]

Lu Siye glanced at the System panel. This Corpse Ghost Grandpa was quite impressive; he actually provided him with three thousand Energy Points.

After resolving the Ghost, Lu Siye took a photo of the ashes on the ground and uploaded it to the Evil Suppression Bureau, then turned his head to look at Fang Lanyue, only to see her immediately cover her cheeks.

Those dozen or so heavy slaps just now had caused quite a bit of trauma to her young heart.

[Oh my! This Great Demon King isn't going to beat me too because he didn't have enough fun hitting that one, right? Energy Points +555!]

Hearing the notification sound in his ears, Lu Siye's gaze instantly became gentle.

The mobile Ghost-shaped ATM machine had finally grown up. How nice!

Lu Siye came before the two nurses, raised his hand to pat their heads, injected a bit of Yang Qi into their bodies, and reignited the Yang Fire that had been extinguished by fright.

"Let's go!" Lu Siye said to Fang Lanyue, then turned and disappeared from the Morgue.

"Oh, oh!" Fang Lanyue nodded.

The moment she left the Morgue, the Ghostly Blindness shrouding the two nurses also vanished.

The moment Fang Lanyue had burst through the door, the two of them had been struck by Fang Lanyue's Ghostly Blindness and had fallen into the illusion she had woven.

What the two of them saw was simply a bolt of lightning suddenly piercing through the door of the Morgue, simultaneously striking the reanimated old man into a pile of ashes, which was why the two of them had survived.

"That scared me to death! Thank goodness Heaven has eyes, wuwuwu!" The two hugged each other and began to cry bitterly.
