Qu Zhonghui glared at his former subordinate in a rage, "You should be compensating me."

Before Gao Yue was headhunted by Chen Cheng, she had previously worked at Company Name.

No one expected that she would return to Company Name in such a way.

However, Gao Yue was very happy, even feeling a sense of vindication.

Placed in front of Qu Zhonghui was a resignation letter waiting for his signature.

Gao Yue maintained a smile throughout, "General Manager Qu, Chairman Chen asked you to resign yourself because he hopes to give you some dignity."

"Chairman Chen is already very clear about the problems you had with the Rihuan Biology project."

"If you insist, Chairman Chen will immediately launch a thorough investigation into the Rihuan Biology project."

Qu Zhonghui scoffed, "Go ahead and investigate."

The case he handled personally had been years ago, and those who knew were still in Tilanqiao Prison; he was confident that no one had evidence to prove he was involved.

Gao Yue smiled and shook her head; he was truly stubborn until the very end.

She took the file out of her bag and handed it to Qu Zhonghui.

Looking at the document, Qu Zhonghui instantly felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave. The document detailed the entire process of the Rihuan Biology project back then and also meticulously recorded the specific amounts Qu Zhonghui had received in bribes through his relatives' accounts.

Knowing someone had a problem, and knowing exactly where the problem was, made finding evidence simple.

And evidence that didn't even need to go to court made it even simpler.

It was directed by Chen Cheng and carried out by Karen.

In less than three days, they had discovered that during the same period as the Rihuan Biology project, a remittance of 20 million had appeared in the account of Qu Zhonghui's second aunt, a woman in her seventies.

Qu Zhonghui thought it over and over, then resentfully picked up the pen and signed.

Gao Yue smiled and extended her hand, "General Manager Qu, I wish you a safe journey."

"Hmph," Qu Zhonghui snorted. Since when could small fries like Gao Yue watch him make a fool of himself?

He glared at the two people by the window, gnashing his teeth. In Qu Zhonghui's eyes, only Chris had the ability and conditions to know the inside story of Rihuan Biology.

Gao Yue didn't mind and reminded him, "General Manager Qu, you can go straight home today. Your personal items in the office will be delivered to you after the Security Department has verified them."

"You!"

Qu Zhonghui glared fiercely at Gao Yue, his eyes looking as if they could eat a person, "Leave a way out for others, so we can meet again in the future!"

Gao Yue maintained her smile: "Chairman Chen is only letting you resign voluntarily out of consideration for the many years General Manager Qu has fought for Company Name."

"I don't think you want to become the stepping stone for Chairman Chen to establish his authority, right?"

Qu Zhonghui stared, let out a long breath, straightened his crisp suit, and turned to leave the conference room calmly.

This was his last bit of dignity.

Watching Qu Zhonghui leave, Chris smiled and asked Chen Cheng, "I wonder who Chairman Chen plans to hand Company Name over to? Surely you won't be taking the helm yourself?"

Chen Cheng shook his head, "Zhao Hui."

Chris's eyes lit up, "Zhao Hui from Shenmao Bank?"

"It's him."

Chris clicked his tongue. No wonder he was in such a rush to fire Qu Zhonghui, not leaving any buffer time for Company Name; it turned out he was clearing the position for Zhao Hui.

"Chairman Chen is indeed a big spender. Banker Zhao was once the youngest provincial branch vice president of Shenmao Bank."

Chen Cheng smiled, "It was a coincidence, with some luck involved. Banker Zhao and I are like fellow disciples; we were taught by the same teacher."

Chris realized, "No wonder."

The two chatted for a while, and then Chris left.

He left with a cold 700 million, and one wonders if he felt empty inside.

Chen Cheng interviewed the remaining executives in what used to be Qu Zhonghui's office upstairs.

Chen Cheng looked at the layout of the office and smiled.

Chris, this second-generation rich kid, had made a mistake; there wasn't even an office for him, the real boss, at Company Name.

This was like the vassal kings in ancient times—the heavens were high and the emperor was far away, leading to a lack of awe.

Leaving an office would be different; regardless of whether he came or not, this office would constantly remind everyone in the company who the real boss was.

"General Manager, please sit," Chen Cheng smiled and pointed to the sofa beside him for General Manager.

Chen Cheng sized her up, and she also sized up this new boss.

Young, handsome, with a restrained temperament; if she were a dozen years younger, she might have felt a flutter in her heart.

The young girl responsible for pouring tea left consciously after finishing her task.

Gao Yue had trained her well.

Chen Cheng smiled, "General Manager, I invited you here today to talk about the work of the Technology and Communications Department."

General Manager nodded reservedly, not knowing if Chen Cheng's words were good or bad, "Chairman Chen, please go ahead."

Chen Cheng held his left hand with his right, resting them naturally on his lap, his right thumb rubbing the knuckle of his left thumb, "I plan to expand the management scale of the Technology and Communications Department. I will invest a directional fund of 100 million USD into the TMT department (TMT: the first letters of the three English words Technology, Media, and Telecommunications), focusing on investments in Artificial Intelligence and intelligent driving."

"Of course, this investment might be increased later."

General Manager's face remained calm, but inside, a monstrous wave had already been stirred up; she was going to strike it rich.

Company Name's current asset management scale was just under 2 billion.

Although the TMT department accounted for the bulk of Company Name's asset management, it had a management scale of around 800 million.

The new boss wanted to directly give her a fund equivalent to all the accumulation of the TMT department since its establishment; it was hard for her to stay calm.

"Chairman Chen wants to bet on Artificial Intelligence?" General Manager raised an eyebrow.

Chen Cheng handed her the tablet on the coffee table, "Of course, I am a futurist; I believe the era of Artificial Intelligence is coming soon."

"We missed the three industrial revolutions, as witnesses of this era."

"I do not want to miss the upcoming global transformation of production methods."

General Manager frowned as she looked at the tablet, "Chairman Chen invested in the angel round of Nuoruo?"

Chen Cheng's mouth curled up. Three years ago, when the founders came to him, Chen Cheng had invested 10 million USD before even finishing listening to the project introduction, taking 20% equity plus anti-dilution clauses.

Both founders were dumbfounded. Were they only worth a valuation of 50 million USD combined?

"You?"

"Me?"

The two looked at each other; why not take a fool's money?

As for the anti-dilution clauses, who cared about that much?

Just get the investor's money first.

The world laughs at me for being too crazy; I laugh at them for not seeing through it.

At the beginning of this year, Nuoruo raised 900 million USD, with a valuation of 2.7 billion USD.

Chen Cheng's 20% equity was now worth 540 million USD, a 54-fold increase compared to the 10 million invested.

This was the charm of angel investing.

Having an information advantage was an insane bug; it was countless times simpler than trading stocks, and the returns were higher.

The cost was that the new shareholders did not recognize the anti-dilution clauses held by Chen Cheng, and Chen Cheng's shares would be diluted proportionally in subsequent financing.

Chen Cheng smiled, "I have a Silicon Valley startup circle at school and have the nickname of 'philanthropist'."

General Manager didn't hear a word Chen Cheng said, looking at the data carefully, "And Sky?"

It was no wonder General Manager was surprised; Sky had just raised 100 million USD this month, its valuation officially exceeded 1 billion USD, and it had entered the ranks of unicorns.

The rise of any unicorn was a topic of conversation in the industry.

And today, someone else's conversation piece had ended up in her hands, which made it hard for General Manager not to be surprised.

For Sky, Chen Cheng had still used a ridiculous 10 million USD to eat up the angel round, taking away 20% of the equity.

Unfortunately, the founding team was very smart and simply did not agree to the anti-dilution clauses.

Chen Cheng didn't dwell on it too much and gave it anyway.

After all, it was he who insisted on investing.

After raising the B round this month, his equity was diluted to 16.2%.

However, Chen Cheng didn't plan to sell it before it went public.

General Manager was a bit numb; betting on two unicorns in the angel round could no longer be described as just ability—it was pure luck, alright.

General Manager thought for a moment, handed the tablet back to Chen Cheng with both hands, and said seriously, "Chairman Chen, I will definitely work hard and not live up to your trust."

Chen Cheng's mouth curled up; this show of power had worked well.

He smiled, "From now on, you will be the General Manager of the TMT Center."

General Manager's eyes widened in surprise.

This was clearly a promotion for her.

And not just giving her more work without changing her compensation.

ED promoted to MD.

General Manager felt like she was floating when she walked out of the office, taking several deep breaths to suppress the fluttering in her heart.
