Han Su immediately reacted, "Oh~ let me introduce you, this is He Zhinan, General Manager Gao's girlfriend."
She looked at Chen Cheng again, "This is from Zhencheng Capital..." As she spoke, she raised an eyebrow at Chen Cheng, "Chen Cheng."
Looking at the three of them, she said, "Let me introduce you, this here is the boss of my law firm, Morena, Lawyer Hu."
"Hello~"
"Hello~"
He Zhinan greeted them politely.
Chen Cheng nodded faintly. He recognized this woman. Or rather, that wasn't quite right; saying he recognized her was a bit strange. Her other name should be more well-known—Zhao Jingyu.
Gao Peng's expression, however, was a bit unusual; it had appeared just when Han Su introduced He Zhinan as his girlfriend.
Chen Cheng noticed this little expression the moment he turned his head, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.
Men really are all the same, eating from the bowl while eyeing what's in the pot.
Morena spoke to Gao Peng, "I need to borrow Sophie for a moment," she glanced at Han Su, "I want to introduce someone to you."
Clearly, the high-powered lawyer Morena did not take Handsome Chen seriously.
Han Su was taken aback for a moment, but a smile immediately appeared on her face, "Sure."
Han Su turned back and gave Chen Cheng an apologetic look, "I need to go socialize a bit."
Chen Cheng nodded, "Go ahead, I'll just wander around."
Morena gave Chen Cheng a polite nod and turned to take Han Su away.
After walking only a few steps, she whispered to Han Su, "Is this Chen Cheng your new romantic prospect?"
For a moment, Han Su didn't know how to respond. After thinking, she said, "He's a high school classmate; I ran into him by chance yesterday."
Morena raised an eyebrow, clearly sensing Han Su's flutter, "I actually think you and this young General Manager Gao are quite a good match."
Han Su looked awkward, "Morena~"
Gao Peng turned to look at Chen Cheng, wanting to say something but hesitating. He Zhinan, who had been watching him the whole time, immediately spoke up, "You guys chat, I'm going to find something to eat."
Gao Peng smiled, "Take your time then."
He Zhinan smiled and nodded at Chen Cheng, then turned and went to the buffet table.
Chen Cheng smiled and glanced at Gao Peng, raising his glass. Gao Peng naturally raised his glass as well, and they clinked them together.
"General Manager Chen, do you work in finance?"
Chen Cheng nodded, "Mainly in the secondary market."
The two chatted for a few sentences and exchanged contact information.
Gao Peng's assistant ran over and whispered a few words in Gao Peng's ear.
Gao Peng smiled apologetically at Chen Cheng, "Excuse me, I have to step away for a moment."
"Please go ahead, General Manager Gao." Chen Cheng nodded.
Chen Cheng looked toward Han Su and saw her walking back with a stiff expression and hurried steps.
"Back so soon?"
Who knew that Han Su wouldn't answer his question, walking straight past him.
Chen Cheng immediately realized that something unpleasant had happened.
He followed her directly.
Han Su walked to the buffet table, her whole body losing strength; she pressed her hands against the tabletop to support herself.
Chen Cheng walked up close and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Han Su kept her head down, taking two deep breaths to try to keep herself as calm as possible.
She picked up the whiskey on the table, poured a little, and tilted her head back to pour it into her mouth.
The pungent spiciness of the alcohol strongly stimulated her taste buds, and Han Su calmed down.
She turned to look at Chen Cheng, "Let's go."
Chen Cheng was taken aback, "Alright."
He was there to accompany her; since she said she wanted to leave, Chen Cheng naturally had no reason to stay.
The two left the banquet hall together.
Head-on, they bumped into Gao Peng and a scholarly-looking middle-aged man.
Han Su just nodded at Gao Peng and walked past the two of them toward the elevator.
The scholarly middle-aged man, however, called out to stop Chen Cheng, "Mr. Chen."
Chen Cheng also recognized the man; it was the Hong Kong Island boss that Tan Zongming had introduced to him before.
"General Manager Guo."
General Manager Guo laughed heartily, "Mr. Chen, why didn't you contact me when you came to Hong Kong Island? I should have played the host."
Chen Cheng glanced at Han Su, who was about to disappear down the hallway, and smiled apologetically, "General Manager Guo, let's chat another day."
General Manager Guo also noticed the beautiful woman who had just hurried past, "Alright, Mr. Chen, you're busy, I'll pay a visit to your company another day."
Chen Cheng smiled, nodded at Gao Peng, and passed the two of them to chase after Han Su.
Watching Chen Cheng's retreating figure disappear, General Manager Guo laughed, "Mr. Chen is truly young and dashing."
Gao Peng raised an eyebrow, "General Manager Guo, do you know this General Manager Chen?"
General Manager Guo looked at him, frowning slightly, "You don't know him?"
Gao Peng shook his head, "Not really. He is our company's legal advisor, and also the date of that girl just now."
General Manager Guo chuckled, looking at his old friend's son, and said earnestly, "Little Gao, if you can be friends with this person, absolutely do not make him an enemy."
Gao Peng raised an eyebrow, "Is he very..."
Chen Cheng did not see Han Su at the elevator bank.
He searched for a long time before finally seeing her on a sofa in a dimly lit lounge area in the distance.
Watching her sitting alone in a dark corner wiping away tears, Chen Cheng actually breathed a sigh of relief.
He sat down right beside her.
He asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Han Su forced a smile onto her tear-streaked face and shook her head, "It's nothing~"
"What is actually wrong?"
Chen Cheng's tone was firm; he didn't know what had happened just now to make Han Su lose her composure like this.
Han Su's tears couldn't stop falling. After thinking about it, she still opened her mouth to explain: "I..."
"I just..."
"Saw my dad."
Chen Cheng instantly understood why she had lost her composure.
She had come to Hong Kong Island just to stand in front of that man who 'abandoned his children' with a haughty attitude, to casually mention her mother, and to see that man's reaction.
"Lawyer Hu wanted to introduce me to him."
"I ran away..."
Chen Cheng took the Macallan 12-year-old she was holding from her arms, "Stealing someone else's liquor is not a very polite behavior."
Han Su was also amused by his actions and patted his arm, "Liquor is placed there to be drunk by people, isn't it?"
"The main thing is, no one takes the bottle with them."
Han Su saw him keep joking, was taken aback for a moment, and asked suspiciously, "You don't seem surprised."
Chen Cheng raised an eyebrow; he couldn't exactly say, "I know the truth."
"If it really is your dad, and you still need someone else to introduce you, then the relationship between you is obviously complicated."
Han Su's mouth curled up slightly, "You really are very smart."
Chen Cheng felt helpless; he might be smart, but it was more that he had "opened his third eye."
Seeing that he didn't speak, Han Su didn't dwell on this issue either. She thought of Sun Xu again, the man she had thought was her biological father.
Tears fell uncontrollably.
Chen Cheng looked at her with great heartache.
"Do I look pretty terrible right now?"
Chen Cheng just looked at her quietly, without speaking.
"From the age of sixteen, I set a goal for myself."
"I want to work hard to get close to him."
"But what I didn't expect was that this road to getting close to him would be so long."
"Too difficult..."
"I have looked at his photo thousands of times, looking at it every single day."
"I thought that when I saw him, I would be quite calm."
"I thought..."
"I would stand in front of him, upright and with my head held high."
"Because I think I'm actually pretty great now."
"I want to ask him, do you regret it?"
"Have you ever regretted it?"
"I want to make him regret it until he dies."
