Sun Xin rolled her eyes at him, "You've definitely changed."
Chen Cheng chuckled, "See if there's anything you'd like to eat?"
Sun Xin glanced at the menu and immediately lost her resolve, "I ate a few bites just now, so I'm not particularly hungry, but I'm not exactly full either."
"Hmm..." She hummed while flipping through the menu, then looked up at the waiter, "Do you have any set meals for two?"
The waiter nodded with a smile, "We do, ma'am."
"We have a set meal for two at our restaurant."
Hearing this, Chen Cheng looked at the waiter, "Then we'll have a set meal for two."
"And a bottle of good red wine." Saying that, he looked at Sun Xin, "Xin Xin, do you want French, Australian, or American?"
Sun Xin gave an awkward smile, "I don't know much about this. Why don't you order?"
Chen Cheng glanced at the wine list, "Let's go with French then. A traditional region, can't go wrong."
Sun Xin followed his lead and nodded quickly, "Okay. Old wine for old friends, I think the sentiment is quite nice."
Chen Cheng frowned slightly, not expecting her to be a bit sentimental. He chuckled and handed the menu back to the waiter.
He looked at Sun Xin affectionately, "I remember you were born in '93, so please open a bottle of '93 Petrus for us."
The waiter's eyes lit up, a bright smile on his face, "Certainly, sir." He bowed slightly, took the menu, and withdrew.
Sun Xin looked at Handsome Chen, her heart starting to pound. How did this guy become so good at flirting?
What 'you were born in '93, so let's open a '93'...
Oh my god, help, I'm about to lose my cool.
After a good while, Sun Xin finally suppressed her restless emotions. She blinked and asked provocatively:
"Then do you still remember my birthday?"
Scum Cheng blurted out, "The thirteenth day of the eighth lunar month, two days before the Mid-Autumn Festival."
This buddy's memory was practically a cheat code; how could this possibly stump him?
The corners of Sun Xin's mouth curled into a smile again, "Your memory is actually quite good."
Chen Cheng shrugged, "It's alright~" After saying that, he asked in return, "Then do you remember my birthday?"
"Hmm..." Sun Xin pondered for two seconds, "June 6th."
"Back then, the guys in your dorm liked to call you 'Old Six'."
Chen Cheng chuckled. Back in school, Chen Cheng was a man of few words, but every now and then he'd pull off some slick move that surprised everyone.
Over time, he earned the nickname 'Old Six'.
As Sun Xin watched Chen Cheng reminisce, she also remembered that near graduation, she was assigned to the same research topic as him for their thesis.
This 'Old Six' was busy with family matters and preparing to go abroad, so he had been using other people's materials since the initial proposal.
In the end, he managed to cobble together a thesis by picking up the scraps that his teammates didn't want.
The bizarre thing was, he still got a high score.
Before, she just admired him, simply thinking the guy was very clever.
It was only during those few months of writing the thesis that they became closer, and their relationship grew a bit ambiguous.
After thinking for a while, Sun Xin shook her head, tossing the stray thoughts out of her mind.
She blinked and looked at Chen Cheng's handsome face, asking, "He Jing said you've made it big—like, really big."
"You said you were trading stocks before, but then you ended up helping Zhang Qin's husband with financing."
"Hmph~" she let out a soft huff, "Now, there isn't a single word of truth coming out of your mouth."
"So, what exactly are you doing now?"
A lingering smile played on Sun Xin's lips, "Besides, a '93 wine isn't cheap."
Chen Cheng burst out laughing, "Wait, you still don't know what I do?"
"..." Sun Xin's eyes darted around. Suddenly feeling a bit embarrassed under his gaze, she smiled sheepishly, "I didn't go to grad school. I went to work as a bank teller right after graduation."
"You know, the salary for a teller isn't much, and the pressure is huge."
"In the end, I resigned due to the pressure of reality."
"After six months of training, I'm now a coder."
"So, I haven't been paying much attention to things within the financial industry lately."
This time it was Chen Cheng's turn to widen his eyes, saying in disbelief, "A programmer?"
Seeing his surprised expression, Sun Xin felt a bit smug.
With a smile on her face, she nodded, "Yeah, an Embedded Engineer."
Chen Cheng gave her a thumbs up, "As expected of a top student, you can learn anything."
"Of course!" Sun Xin tilted her chin up and laughed happily.
Chen Cheng reached out with a bright smile, "Student Sun Xin, let's get reacquainted. Chen Cheng, of Zhencheng Capital."
"Zhencheng Capital?" Sun Xin frowned, "I think I've heard of it."
She muttered again, "Zhencheng..." Her eyes suddenly widened, "Your company?"
Chen Cheng chuckled, "It's not important."
Sun Xin smiled sheepishly, "Just now I thought you were working at some big international Investment Bank. Seems I was thinking too small."
She reached out her hand to Chen Cheng with a beaming smile, "My apologies, Chairman Chen."
As they chatted, the distance between them unknowingly closed.
Sun Xin was in a very relaxed state now.
Whatever she said, she no longer had the reservations she'd felt at the class reunion.
She said whatever came to mind.
Chen Cheng reached out and took her hand. His smile faded as he said solemnly, "Long time no see, Sun Xin."
Looking at Chen Cheng's handsome face, Sun Xin felt as if her heart was filled with honey, having long since forgotten her intention to compare herself with him.
Pursing her sexy red lips, she spoke softly, "Long time no see, Chen Cheng."
Before long, the dishes were served one after another.
This was a French restaurant.
Appetizers: Escargot, Foie Gras; Soups: French Chicken Soup, Bouillabaisse; Main courses: Boston Lobster, Australian M5 Filet...
"..."
The two talked and laughed until Eleven o'clock before leaving the restaurant.
Chen Cheng pressed the elevator button and turned to look at Sun Xin, who was already slightly tipsy, her face flushed red. "Where do you live?"
"Shall I take you home?"
Sun Xin hesitated for a moment and shook her head, "No need, I'll just take a taxi."
Chen Cheng glanced at his watch, "At this hour, how could I let you take a taxi?"
"If it's on the way, I'll take you. If not..."
Sun Xin frowned and looked up at Chen Cheng with her chin raised, "If it's not on the way, you won't take me?"
The corners of Chen Cheng's mouth turned up slightly, "If it's not on the way, I'll have the driver take you."
Sun Xin's mouth immediately pouted, and she asked with some disappointment, "Then where are you staying?"
"A hotel?"
Chen Cheng nodded, "Yeah, the hotel my subordinates booked is in Qianmen."
"My home is also in Qianmen," Sun Xin pouted, "Fine, I'll take you then."
"Since you're a guest from afar."
Hearing the hint of grievance in her voice, the mischievous grin on Chen Cheng's face never wavered.
The two went down to the first floor and got into the car at the building's entrance.
No words were spoken along the way.
The atmosphere in the car was even somewhat stifling.
Sun Xin had already started cursing Chen Cheng in her heart, calling him a 'straight man' and thinking a 'man of few words' is just a 'man of few words'.
It wasn't far from China World Trade Center area to Qianmen. There was no traffic at night, so they arrived in a few minutes.
The car stopped smoothly in front of a Courtyard House.
Sun Xin glanced at the inconspicuous hotel sign and was a bit surprised, "You're staying here?"
"Yeah," Chen Cheng nodded with a smile, pushed open the car door, and got out.
Seeing her sitting there without moving.
He walked around to the car window, leaned his elbow on it, and a flirtatious smile played on his lips as he looked straight into her eyes.
He asked softly, "Are you thirsty? Do you want to come in for a glass of water?"
Sun Xin's eyes immediately lit up, and a blush crept up her fair cheeks.
A smile touched her lips as she looked at Chen Cheng's handsome face, remembering the bits and pieces of the past.
She pursed her lips and nodded.
"I am a bit thirsty. Then I'll walk you in and have a glass of water before I go."
"Anyway, it's not far from my house, just a few steps away."
The corners of Chen Cheng's mouth turned up slightly. Without calling her out, he opened the car door and said with a beaming smile, "Princess, please step out of the car."
Seeing his current cheeky look, Sun Xin couldn't suppress the smile on her face.
Once Sun Xin got out of the car, Chen Cheng waved to the driver, indicating he could finish work for the day.
