Chen Cheng looked at Zhu Zhe at the door and smiled, "Sister Zhu, did you miss me?"
"Pfft! Who would miss you."
"If it weren't for Zhen Zhen saying you hadn't left the house in several days, I wouldn't have come."
Chen Cheng watched her playfully haughty expression, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.
He took the food container from Zhu Zhe's hands, "What is this?"
"Hairy crabs."
As Zhu Zhe unpacked the food container, she said to herself, "I just ran into Chen Zufa downstairs."
"Oh?"
"You were spot on. He came shamelessly, putting on a whole act of a 'prodigal son returning' with snot and tears."
"How did you handle it?"
Zhu Zhe calmly described the scene to Chen Cheng.
Chen Cheng snickered, "What a disaster! This buddy's Dao heart is probably shattered."
"Dao heart? What Dao heart?"
"He came to eat 'returned grass,' thinking he could still manipulate you, right? Too bad our Sister Zhu isn't who she used to be."
"You crushed him with your income. He did the math and realized that after all these years, he still doesn't measure up to the little girl he once looked down on—isn't that a shattered Dao heart?"
Zhu Zhe raised an eyebrow, nodded in agreement, "Forget it, let's not talk about him. It's pointless."
"Have you eaten?"
"Not yet," Chen Cheng shook his head.
He had been busy copying songs; for every song, he had to plan out which musical instruments would accompany it, thinking it all through in advance.
"Look at what time it is. Let me cook you a bowl of noodles."
Saying this, Zhu Zhe went over and opened the refrigerator.
Zhu Zhe wasn't surprised. Ye Zhenzhen had told her that Chen Cheng had been locking himself in his room for the past few days, busy with who-knows-what.
Looking at his state, he had probably forgotten to eat or sleep.
"Sure, thanks, Sister Zhu." Chen Cheng sat at the dining table, slurping on the hairy crab and grinning foolishly.
Zhu Zhe looked back at him, "By the way, how many days has it been since you shaved?"
"Alright, I'll go now."
Chen Cheng's mouth curved; she was complaining that her buddy hadn't shaved for days.
Ever since returning from his date with Zhu Zhe a few days ago, Scum hadn't left the house, so naturally, he hadn't shaved.
He was quite addicted to this 'copying literature' business, alright.
Over the past few days, Chen Cheng had searched through all the major music libraries. It was like discovering a new continent.
He was on a roll these past two days, frantically copying songs. Even if he didn't release them now, he was keeping them as a song library.
Scum didn't even spare the foreign language ones; he was determined to give this world a little shock.
After finishing the crab, Chen Cheng put down his chopsticks and went to the bathroom.
He looked in the mirror; it had definitely grown.
When Chen Cheng came out of the bathroom, he happened to see Zhu Zhe standing by the stove. Steam was rising from the pot, and she was slowly stirring it with chopsticks.
At this sight, Chen Cheng felt a moment of trance.
"Done washing? It'll be ready soon." Zhu Zhe might have felt Chen Cheng's gaze, as she turned around and happened to see him looking her over.
"Okay. No rush."
Zhu Zhe smiled slightly at Chen Cheng, turned her head back, and continued stirring the noodles in the pot.
Scum pursed his lips and walked over softly.
Without making a sound, he slipped his hands under her arms and hugged her.
Zhu Zhe's body stiffened instantly, and the chopsticks in her hand dropped into the pot.
Realizing what happened, she immediately broke free from Chen Cheng's hands, turned her head, and asked him with a flushed face, "Chen Cheng, what are you doing?"
Chen Cheng grabbed Zhu Zhe's hand and gazed at her affectionately, "Watching you cook noodles for me, I couldn't help but want to pull you into my arms and hug you."
Zhu Zhe was a bit dazed by this sudden action. Before she could react, Scum had already wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.
This action? Zhu Zhe's breathing became rapid, and her heart pounded.
At this moment, Scum spoke, "Sister Zhu, how about... I support you?"
Zhu Zhe frowned; she really wanted to say yes, but thinking of reality, she immediately began to struggle.
With Chen Cheng's stature, as long as he didn't want to, there was no way Zhu Zhe could break free from his embrace.
As Zhu Zhe struggled, Scum tightened his arms, holding her even closer.
After trying a few times, Zhu Zhe stopped. She sighed heavily and said, "Chen Cheng, stop messing around. We aren't suitable for each other."
"Why aren't we suitable?" Chen Cheng looked down at her.
"We aren't suitable in any way—family background, educational background, income. In short, we just don't fit."
Chen Cheng's mouth curled up slightly as he gazed into her eyes, "So, Sister Zhu likes me too, right?"
Looking at Chen Cheng's charming jawline and alluring eyes, Zhu Zhe wanted to say 'I don't,' but the words got stuck in her throat.
Seeing her silent, Chen Cheng expressed his feelings with action.
He lifted her chin with his hand and kissed her on the lips.
Zhu Zhe's eyes widened, and her body froze in place. She had been single for seven or eight years; she had never seen such a display before.
After a long while, Zhu Zhe remembered to struggle.
"Mmm~"
Slowly, it became weak.
Having been single for so long, desire was like dry firewood, followed by a raging inferno.
At this moment, Zhu Zhe chose to follow her heart's desire.
