By the time Chen Cheng arrived in Magic City, the sky was already dark.

He didn't go home; instead, he had Eleven drive directly to the restaurant found by the CEO of Jiang's company.

Entering the restaurant, he went straight up to the second floor.

As he was walking toward his private box, he suddenly heard a familiar voice coming from a room where both the door and the serving passage were wide open.

"President Wan, I'm here to apologize to you on behalf of Huanshan."

Chen Cheng stopped in his tracks and raised an eyebrow. "President Wan?"

"Gu Jia?"

That President Wan, who, just like him, wanted to be a cao thief.

Damn, this guy is trying to steal my dish.

A playful smile played at the corners of Chen Cheng's mouth as he stood rooted to the spot.

It wasn't that he wanted to eavesdrop.

But saving a damsel in distress requires choosing the right moment.

Entering when the benefits are maximized...

That is what makes a qualified businessman.

From inside the box, he heard: "Forget it. Even if you drink this entire bottle, I still won't be satisfied."

Gu Jia took a breath and maintained a forced smile. "Actually, there's something more important than an apology."

"I especially wanted to thank you today."

"Thank you for looking after our family business these past two years."

"To be honest, it's only because of your orders that our company can function normally."

"Only then can our family live a good life."

"So, truly, thank you."

Gu Jia nodded as she spoke, then took a deep breath. "I'm willing to give you 20% of the profits. Do you think that would work?"

President Wan narrowed his eyes at Gu Jia. "Can you make that decision?"

Gu Jia gave a short laugh. "Since I've come here today, I can make the decision."

President Wan sneered. "I remember his exact words. He said he'd rather starve to death than take another order from me."

Gu Jia: "He was just speaking out of anger; he didn't mean it."

"Xu Huanshan is an artist; you can't take him literally."

President Wan chuckled. "So I can't take it seriously, huh?"

Gu Jia smiled and shook her head. "You can't take it seriously."

"Then..." A wretched smile appeared on President Wan's pitted face as he reached out and grabbed Gu Jia's hand. "Let's speak some truths then."

Gu Jia's expression changed instantly, a flash of ruthlessness appearing in her eyes.

However, she forced herself to endure it and remained seated in her chair.

President Wan stroked Gu Jia's small hand. "Gu Jia, to be honest, your family's fireworks have been quite good these past two years."

"But I think they aren't as good as you."

"Xu Huanshan is a lucky man. I'm envious; it's hard to find peace when one desires what they cannot have."

The corners of Chen Cheng's mouth curled up; things inside were already getting straight to the point.

His eyes darted around, and he turned to walk inside.

"Don't worry, about what happens today, only you and I will know..."

President Wan was in the middle of enticing Gu Jia when he was interrupted by Chen Cheng's loud voice: "Gu Jia, it really is you."

Both of them were startled.

Seeing Chen Cheng, Gu Jia felt as if she'd been caught in an affair and abruptly pulled back her hand from being groped.

Her voice held a hint of disbelief. "Mr. Chen?"

Chen Cheng laughed. "Just passing by. I heard a familiar voice and stopped to listen for a moment. I didn't expect it to actually be you."

He raised an eyebrow and glanced at the dark-skinned, pockmarked President Wan. "What's going on here?"

"I heard something about desiring what one cannot have and finding it hard to rest?"

President Wan's brow furrowed. Since this uninvited guest entered, he hadn't even looked at him properly, and now he was speaking with such sarcasm.

The anger in President Wan's chest was becoming hard to suppress.

He turned to look at Gu Jia furiously. "Is this the helper you brought?"

Gu Jia didn't answer him; she just gave a cold laugh.

She stood up, picked up the wine decanter on the table, and poured it over her hand.

Once it was completely soaked, she took a napkin from the table and wiped her hand, scrubbing with great force.

With a face like frost, she looked at President Wan. "It seems my Xu Huanshan was right."

"We would rather burn our factory down than take your orders."

Chen Cheng's lips curled up. Gu Jia, oh Gu Jia, you really are prophetic.

Your factory really was 'burned down' by Xu Huanshan.

After Gu Jia finished speaking, she gave a cold snort, not even looking at President Wan, whose face looked like he'd eaten filth.

With an overbearing stride, she walked toward Chen Cheng at the door.

Chen Cheng watched her proud and peerless manner; the more he looked, the more he liked what he saw.

Walking up to Chen Cheng, Gu Jia exhaled. A smile appeared on her face as she let out a wine-induced hiccup and bowed respectfully. "Mr. Chen."

Chen Cheng smiled and raised an eyebrow. "Good evening."

Seeing Chen Cheng's relaxed manner, a sincere curve also appeared at the corners of Gu Jia's mouth.

"Since the talk fell through, shall we go?"

Gu Jia nodded and stepped out of the box side-by-side with Chen Cheng.

President Wan stared at the doorway. In a fit of rage, he snatched up a wine glass from the table and smashed it toward the door.

"The cooked duck has flown away!"

"Mr. Chen?"

"Sir?"

After walking out of the box, Gu Jia couldn't hold on for more than a few steps.

She stumbled and almost fell over.

Fortunately, Chen Cheng was quick. He reached under her left arm and grabbed her, preventing her from falling.

With Chen Cheng's pull, Gu Jia regained a sliver of clarity. She lowered her head, her right hand bracing against her knee.

*Retch*

*Retch*

She felt her stomach churning; she was on the verge of vomiting.

But concerned about her image in front of Chen Cheng, she forced it back down.

Chen Cheng switched hands, his right arm going across her back to support her other side, letting her lean her entire weight against him.

He chuckled. "What's this? Playing the hero and trying to be like Linghu Chong?"

Gu Jia tried to act calm, but her eyes couldn't hide their blurred state as she smiled. "You're joking."

With her smile, her hazy gaze, and the way she leaned against Chen Cheng while breathing warmly...

That seductive aura of a mature woman almost gave Chen Cheng an instant erection.

Chen Cheng exhaled, suppressing his restless emotions. "Didn't I tell you to just call me by my name?"

"Forget it, let's go to the restroom to wash up first."

As he spoke, he held her and walked toward the restroom at the end of the hallway.

"You drank too fast; you'll feel better once you throw up."

"Go to the restroom. If it won't come out, use your finger."

As Chen Cheng was speaking, they hadn't even gone a few steps before Gu Jia went completely limp against him, her head drooping.

Chen Cheng immediately felt the weight on him increase significantly.

He looked down.

Well, she had already fallen asleep.

Chen Cheng sighed speechlessly. With this kind of alcohol tolerance, she actually dared to come alone to drink and apologize to someone?

Back at the door, Chen Cheng had already remembered that this whole mess was because 'Xu the Firecracker' had offended Old Wan.

Gu Jia had no choice but to host a dinner to apologize to Old Wan.

It was just that Old Wan also inherited the legacy of the cao thief; he didn't even want the 20% profit, he just wanted to sleep with Gu Jia.

Chen Cheng thought about it; in this state, there was no need to go to the restroom to vomit. They should just go home.

Chen Cheng exhaled, leaned down to pick her up in a princess carry, and went downstairs.

He called Eleven to have her drive the car to the restaurant entrance.

Eleven drove over and was momentarily stunned to see Chen Cheng holding an unfamiliar woman in his arms.

He didn't give her time to react; as soon as the car stopped, she quickly got out to open the door.

Chen Cheng tucked Gu Jia into the back seat, pressed the seat adjustment button to give her a comfortable semi-reclined position, and buckled her seatbelt.

He straightened up, took a breath, looked up at the restaurant, and mumbled with a slight smile, "Looks like I'll have to stand you guys up."

He pulled out his phone and made a call to Deng Xiaoqi, saying a few words.
