Gu Jia's roar finally jolted the panicked woman back to her senses.
In a fluster, she took out the keys and opened the door.
Chen Cheng stood behind them, having already taken out his phone to record the moment.
Muzi's Mother's action of fumbling for the keys was already proof of her intentional behavior.
Gu Jia immediately rushed inside and crouched down in front of Xu Ziyan, who was crying his eyes out.
Seeing Gu Jia, Xu Ziyan opened his arms for a hug, wailing even harder.
“Mama~ Wah~~ Wah~ Wah~~~~”
Gu Jia hugged her son tightly, heartbroken. She patted his back to soothe his breathing while glaring at Muzi's Mother with a look that could kill.
Chen Cheng watched her expression, the corners of his mouth curling slightly.
It had to be said, Gu Jia had a certain ruthless streak in her.
“What's wrong, baby?”
“Mama, I kept knocking on the door, but I couldn't get out.”
Faced with Xu Ziyan's accusation, Muzi's Mother suddenly grew anxious. “Hey, no, I mean, you child, why were you wandering around?”
Chen Cheng let out a sneer, pulled a chair in the family room near the door, and sat down to watch the show.
Muzi's Mother was still trying to explain herself. “The door to my bedroom won't stay open... it locks itself as soon as it closes.”
“I say, you child, you have no manners... barging into places you shouldn't.”
The woman in the green shirt beside her also chimed in, “Exactly. This child doesn't play with the other kids anyway.”
“It's almost like he has autism.”
The source of Gu Jia's conflict with these two women started when a child at the kindergarten had an epileptic seizure. He had been convulsing all over, which frightened the other children playing nearby.
That same night, Muzi's Mother created a group chat for the parents of children without epilepsy.
She intended to instigate the other parents to pressure the kindergarten together to expel the child with epilepsy.
Gu Jia disagreed with her approach. That night, she looked up educational materials and explained to Xu Ziyan what epilepsy was.
She taught him not to be afraid and, more importantly, not to discriminate.
After doing this, Gu Jia expressed her stance in the parents' group chat.
“I would like to state on behalf of our whole family that we are willing to let Nannan stay, and my child is also willing to attend classes with him.”
“Epilepsy is just a neurological disease; it's not contagious and not aggressive.”
“To deprive another child of the right to a normal education just because one's own child was frightened by a seizure...”
“Such discriminatory views should not exist in kindergarten, nor should they ever be planted in the pure hearts of children.”
“This is more damaging than any negative influence.”
“If Nannan is ultimately expelled, we will not leave our child in a kindergarten with such educational values.”
Once she took this stand, it immediately drew agreement from some parents who hadn't dared to speak up before.
It also successfully preserved the educational rights of the child with epilepsy.
On the surface, it seemed like she had done a great, heart-warming deed.
How could Gu Jia have known that she had inadvertently challenged the authority of Muzi's Mother, the head of the Parent-Teacher Association?
It made Muzi's Mother feel that her interests were being threatened.
As trivial as the position of PTA head seemed, there were interests tied to it behind the scenes.
From small things like children's extracurricular activities—piano, tennis, equestrianism, golf—to big things like overseas study tours during summer and winter breaks.
In every aspect, the core members of the PTA could take a cut of the profits.
These were tangible benefits.
Even though Gu Jia hadn't done it on purpose, she had still poked the sensitive nerves of these people.
And so, these people directed their malice toward Xu Ziyan.
Gu Jia was still rubbing Xu Ziyan's little face, comforting him softly.
Hearing these two mean aunties making false accusations, little Xu Ziyan felt extremely wronged. “Mama, I'm never playing with them again.”
“I'm not... I don't want to go to kindergarten anymore.”
Gu Jia forced a smile onto her face. She didn't argue with the little guy, saying gently, “Then Mama will take you home, okay?”
Xu Ziyan nodded with a sob, “Mm~”
Gu Jia took a deep breath, picked up Xu Ziyan, stood up, walked out of the bedroom, and handed him to Chen Cheng.
“Hold him for me for a moment.”
Chen Cheng's lips curled slightly as he reached out to take the boy.
“Ziyan, let Uncle hold you for a while, okay? Mama has something to take care of.”
Xu Ziyan looked up at Chen Cheng and nodded while whimpering.
Chen Cheng raised the phone in his hand.
Gu Jia instantly understood that he had recorded a video and nodded.
Chen Cheng glanced at the two women, who looked as if a weight had been lifted. Good luck to you both.
He carried Xu Ziyan out of the bedroom area.
Watching Chen Cheng's back disappear from her sight, Gu Jia unbuckled her watch while kicking off her high heels.
Holding her breath, she grabbed the green-shirted woman by the hair with one hand and hooked her arm around Muzi's Mother's neck with the other, dragging them both into the room where Xu Ziyan had just been locked.
Immediately, wails echoed from the room.
“What are you doing?!”
“Why are you hitting us?!”
Clearly, these two women had underestimated Gu Jia, who had clawed her way up from the grassroots.
“How dare you—you hit me!”
*Slap!*
The sound of *slap after slap* was incessant.
The parents in the living room hurriedly covered the ears of the children in the house.
Holding Xu Ziyan in the elevator lobby, Chen Cheng patted the sobbing little guy's back to soothe him, the corners of his mouth turned up high.
Gu Jia's temperament was a match for Lucy's.
Quite fierce and unyielding.
Although it was a bit of a pity he couldn't witness the housewife Gu Jia's urban combat with his own eyes, the smile on Chen Cheng's face never faded.
The more girlfriends he had, the more he liked a little wild filly like this.
Challenging and never boring.
After nearly ten minutes inside, the battle was finally over.
The woman in the green shirt had two symmetrical palm prints on her face, her shirt was torn open to reveal a patch of skin, and her hair was a mess.
Muzi's Mother looked even worse; her nose was bleeding.
Gu Jia also walked out with disheveled hair.
Muzi's Mother scrambled up from the floor. Looking at Gu Jia, who was catching her breath and tidying her appearance by the door, she shrieked:
“I'm going to get a medical evaluation!”
“I'm calling the police!”
“I'm going to have your son kicked out of the kindergarten!”
Gu Jia sat down where Chen Cheng had been sitting earlier.
As she changed her shoes, she let out a sneer. “The one who should call the police is me.”
“You took my son from the kindergarten without my consent; that's called abduction.”
“You locked him in a confined room and restricted his freedom; that's called illegal detention.”
“The one who should get lost from the kindergarten is you.”
Muzi's Mother was still indignant. “On what grounds?!”
“Or else, I'll post all those nasty things about you taking kickbacks and seeking personal gain into the group chat.”
Muzi's Mother's face changed instantly.
She knew very well that the abduction and illegal detention Gu Jia mentioned still had room for legal interpretation.
But the matter of taking kickbacks was a concrete piece of leverage.
As long as Gu Jia wanted to, she could just pay a little money—or even no money—and the people who gave her those kickbacks would sell her out in an instant.
Having said her piece, Gu Jia gave a cold laugh, picked up her bag, and walked out of the room.
Seeing her walk out with such a powerful aura, Chen Cheng's lips curled, and he gave her a big thumbs up.
“Total dominance!”
