Zou Yu picked up her phone and took a look; it was a call from Sun Xin.

She handed it to Chen Cheng in a huff, her tone sour: "Your new girlfriend."

Chen Cheng took the phone and pulled her into his arms, holding her close. "You're with me every single day, aren't you satisfied yet?"

Zou Yu's pretty face instantly flushed red. "Who... who isn't satisfied?"

Chen Cheng chuckled, made a shushing gesture at her, and pressed answer.

"Hello~"

"Are you busy?" Sun Xin asked, her voice sounding a bit listless.

Chen Cheng frowned and asked directly, "Where are you? I'll come find you."

A smile curled onto Sun Xin's face, and she pursed her lips. "I'm at the bus stop waiting for the bus."

"Send me your location, and I'll come pick you up."

"Okay, I'll wait for you."

After hanging up, Zou Yu pouted. "Going to find your new girlfriend again?"

Chen Cheng nodded. "Yeah, she sounded like she was in low spirits. She probably hit a snag in her job hunt."

Zou Yu pursed her lips and climbed out of his embrace. "Go on, go on. You only hear the new girl laugh; who cares about the old one's tears?"

Chen Cheng's mouth twitched, and he patted her bottom. "What are you getting so jealous for?"

He stood up. "I'm off."

Chen Cheng said goodbye and left the tea room.

He didn't ask Eleven to drive; he drove the Horch himself.

It was a bit far, and it took him half an hour to arrive.

When he arrived, Chen Cheng saw Sun Xin standing in the shade of a tree, hiding from the sun.

It was still August, and the sun was scorching.

Chen Cheng chuckled helplessly, rolled down the window, and honked the horn.

Only then did Sun Xin see Chen Cheng. A bright smile instantly bloomed on her face as she hurried over.

Once she got in the car, Chen Cheng looked at Sun Xin, whose forehead was covered in a fine sheen of sweat. "You must be roasting, right?" He reached out and handed her a tissue. "Wipe your sweat first. I bought you some watermelon juice."

"Thank you~"

Sun Xin thanked him and took the tissue to wipe the sweat from her forehead. "When will summer ever end? Just walking on the road for a little while makes me unbearably hot."

Chen Cheng stifled a laugh, shifted gears, and drove away.

He said, "When winter comes, are you going to say, 'When will winter ever end? It's freezing to death'?"

Sun Xin immediately lifted her chin in a haughty, coquettish way. "Can we still have a proper conversation?"

Seeing her amused, Chen Cheng's mouth curved slightly. "Is the job hunt not going well? You sounded so down on the phone."

"You noticed?" Sun Xin gave a sheepish smile, looking a bit embarrassed.

Chen Cheng nodded. "Yeah, it was pretty obvious."

"You're my girlfriend, so of course I'd notice those details."

Mentioning work brought Sun Xin's mood back to the interview just now, and she felt a bit down again.

She turned her head, grabbed Chen Cheng's hand resting on the center console, and said, "Let me hold your hand for a while."

"Okay~"

He raised an eyebrow and asked tentatively, "Want to talk about it?"

"I'll be your trash can and soak up all that negative energy you're feeling."

Sun Xin looked at Chen Cheng, rolled her eyes, pondered for a moment, and said, "Can I really tell you?"

Chen Cheng nodded with a smile. "Go ahead. I certainly don't have those kinds of worries right now. Even if you tell me, I won't get anxious."

"Pfft~" Sun Xin giggled. "My big tycoon, it's hard for me to imagine what could possibly make you anxious."

"You should hurry up and tell me about your interviews."

"If we keep talking, you're going to start hating the rich."

Sun Xin stifled a laugh. "Alright then."

"The first place I interviewed at yesterday, as soon as they heard I graduated from our school, they started emphasizing that educational background isn't that important."

"They even used Bill Gates and Steve Jobs as examples."

"Isn't that just them trying to trick me into working for them because they can't afford to pay a decent salary?"

"The second place, right off the bat, asked me what my scores were for each subject in the college entrance exam."

"The total score was fine, but the individual subjects? How would I remember those? I just said some numbers based on my impression."

"In the end, the person said, 'Your calculation is wrong; it should be 642.'"

"You have no idea how embarrassed I was at that moment."

"The third place said they have a flat management structure, flexible working hours, and no clocking in."

"But they work six days a week."

"I asked, 'Is there overtime pay?'"

"The person actually looked at me with a terrified expression, 'Huh???'"

"It was like asking for overtime pay for working overtime was some heinous crime."

"Finally, today I found one that went pretty well."

"But later, when they found out I was unmarried, they started hesitating."

"And another place, once they found out I was a local from Beijing, also..."

"For those two places, before I had even gotten home, they had already emailed me saying I wasn't a fit."

Once the floodgates opened, Sun Xin couldn't help herself and spent about ten minutes venting to Chen Cheng.

Chen Cheng reached out and ruffled her hair. "How about we just don't work anymore? Why put up with that frustration?"

"Mm~" Sun Xin shook her head vigorously. "My job is the last bit of confidence I have in being with you." She turned her head and looked at Chen Cheng earnestly. "You are not allowed to try to talk me out of working anymore."

Chen Cheng chuckled. "Alright, I won't."

"Then let's lower our standards and find a nine-to-five job, one where you get off on time."

"As for the salary, we won't require it to be that high."

"In our family, your husband can afford to support you."

A sweet smile unconsciously appeared on Sun Xin's lips, and she gave a coquettish huff. "Who's your wife? I haven't agreed to that."

Chen Cheng smiled and shook his head without saying anything.

buddy is just saying that; if you really wanted buddy to marry you, that might depend on whether your belly is up to the task.

Otherwise, you'd have to get in line and take a number.

"Where are we going?" Sun Xin glanced out the car window and asked.

Chen Cheng smiled mysteriously. "You'll know in a little while."

"Hmph~" Sun Xin gave a coquettish huff. "You love doing things like this."

Chen Cheng's mouth curved slightly. "Why do I feel like, the way you say that, you actually really like it?"

Having her thoughts exposed, Sun Xin's face instantly turned bright red. She blushed and stubbornly said:

"That's not true."

Before long, Sun Xin knew where they were going.

"Isn't the new house not renovated yet?"

As she spoke, she blinked and said with a flushed face, "How about we just go to your hotel instead?"

"The villa doesn't even have sheets or quilt covers."

Chen Cheng's mouth twitched instantly. "Xin Xin, it's still broad daylight."

"Thinking about it already?"

"..."

Sun Xin didn't say anything for a long while, her face red. After holding it in for a long time, she said, "That..."

"That... my period is coming soon."

"Oh~" Chen Cheng stifled a mischievous laugh and gave a meaningful "oh," dragging out the tail of the sound.

The red flush on Sun Xin's face deepened, and she felt incredibly embarrassed.

"Ugh, so annoying."

Chen Cheng couldn't stop giggling.

This girl had tasted the forbidden fruit and was getting a bit addicted.

Before long, the two arrived at the villa.

Chen Cheng parked the car at the entrance of the villa's garage.

"Why are we here?" After getting out of the car, Sun Xin asked, still puzzled.
