"Huh?"

The taxi driver was completely dumbfounded. He shifted his foot and slammed on the brakes, bringing them to a sudden halt.

Both of them stumbled, their faces nearly smashing into the back of the front seats.

Recovering her senses, Gu Jia gnashed her teeth and glared at Chen Cheng, wishing she could tear his mouth apart.

Talking such nonsense.

Chen Cheng acted as if he hadn't noticed and started complaining to the driver, "Brother, if you're going to brake, at least give us a heads-up."

"I almost snapped my neck because of you."

The driver quickly released the brakes and slowly stepped on the gas to accelerate.

He gave a sheepish laugh. "Sorry about that, sorry."

"Reflex action, just a reflex."

Gu Jia looked at Chen Cheng, the corners of her mouth twitching.

This bastard didn't just slander her ex-husband and ex-wife; he even framed her for having an affair.

Uh... though it seemed that had actually happened.

But damn you, you're the one who benefited from it!

How can you act so innocent now?

If she didn't speak up now, she'd be slandered to death.

A smile played on Gu Jia's lips as she reached out, grabbing Chen Cheng's arm and shaking it. "Stop messing around, okay?"

"You say the child isn't yours, but when I tell you to go get a DNA test, you refuse."

As she spoke, Gu Jia's voice took on a sobbing tone. "I've been with you for eight years. You say the child isn't yours—do you even believe that yourself?"

"Besides, over these eight years, there haven't been ten women around you, then at least eight."

"Did I say anything?"

"If it weren't for that vixen showing up at our door and harassing the child, would I have divorced you?"

The driver was utterly stunned. Well, well, there was a plot twist.

Chen Cheng's mouth twitched. No wonder they say women are born actors.

Gu Jia sounded more and more aggrieved. "If I don't expand my client base and just rely on your child support every day, what happens if you get bored one day and stop paying? Am I supposed to let my son starve?"

Chen Cheng: "..."

Impressive. With just a few words, she had completely flipped the situation.

Before long, they reached their destination. The driver watched them get out of the car with a look of lingering curiosity.

As they walked into Muzi's neighborhood, Chen Cheng casually placed his hand on Gu Jia's waist.

Gu Jia flinched instantly and tried to push him away.

But the man was as steady as a mountain, not budging an inch.

Gu Jia was so frustrated she was about to cry. "What exactly do you want?"

Chen Cheng's lips curled slightly. "We've been an old married couple for eight years, what's wrong with holding your waist?"

Gu Jia suddenly felt like she had shot herself in the foot. "You!..."

With a smile, Chen Cheng leaned down and exhaled into her ear. Gu Jia winced, feeling a wave of numbness spread through her body.

"Don't worry, it's late at night and we're not at Junyue Mansion. No one will recognize us."

Feeling his burning body temperature, Gu Jia's soul instantly flashed back to that morning a few days ago.

That soul-soaring, heart-stopping, bone-melting sensation flooded her heart again.

Gu Jia subconsciously pressed her legs together and swallowed hard.

The desire to seek excitement rose in her heart like a demon.

Chen Cheng watched the change in her expression, a slight smile on his lips.

Holding the half-resisting Gu Jia, he continued walking forward.

This time, Gu Jia didn't resist, though her body remained somewhat stiff.

As soon as she got out of the car, Gu Jia had checked the map on her phone.

Chen Cheng caught a glimpse and memorized which building Muzi lived in. Without fear of taking a wrong turn, he walked straight ahead.

With every step, Gu Jia could feel her body becoming uncontrollably excited and joyful.

This made it hard for her to accept her own changes, as if this body no longer belonged to her.

Just then, a young couple approached them on the garden path.

The sounds of talking and footsteps suddenly jolted Gu Jia—who had been reflecting and feeling giddy, but hadn't thought of her husband Xu Huanshan once—out of her daze.

With a start, she broke free from Chen Cheng's grip and quickly took two steps forward to put some distance between them.

Chen Cheng looked at her back, a faint smile on his lips.

He thought to himself that it was a pity.

Based on Gu Jia's reaction today, Chen Cheng knew that if the environment were right...

He might have been able to further discuss the reproductive habits of animals in the biological world with her.

As they entered the brightly lit lobby of the building, Chen Cheng stopped making things difficult for Gu Jia.

Gu Jia didn't object to him following her either.

Because she knew objecting was useless.

The two of them entered the elevator in silence.

Gu Jia took a long breath to soothe her nerves.

She kept chanting in her mind, "Stay calm, stay calm Gu Jia. Just treat him like a piece of sticky lint."

"Picking up my son is what matters."

"But when Muzi's Mother asks who he is later, what should I say?"

Suddenly, Gu Jia thought of another problem: if her son asked who he was, how should she answer?

Gu Jia's eyes darted around as she found an answer.

She turned to look at Chen Cheng and asked, "That black SUV that followed us the whole way, is that your Bodyguard?"

Chen Cheng was stunned for a moment before a smile spread across his face. "You're quite clever."

Gu Jia curled her lips expressionlessly. "Good to know."

Chen Cheng was somewhat confused.

Soon, the elevator reached the designated floor.

Standing at the door of the apartment, Gu Jia took a breath and rang the doorbell.

The door was opened quickly.

Seeing the woman who opened the door, Gu Jia immediately put on a bright smile. "Hello, Muzi's Mother."

"I've come to pick up Ziyan."

The tall, thin woman who opened the door looked about five or six years older than Gu Jia.

Looking at Gu Jia, a trace of guilt flashed across her face. "Don't... don't mention it."

She then frowned. "Why do you smell so much like alcohol?"

Gu Jia gave an embarrassed smile. "Something came up and delayed me. I'm sorry."

Muzi's Mother stepped aside. "I was just about to call you to ask when you were coming to get the child."

At that moment, Muzi's Mother looked at the tall, handsome Great Handsome Guy, a hint of flirtatiousness appearing in her eyes. "And this is?"

Gu Jia glanced back at Chen Cheng. "Oh~ this is my younger brother."

Muzi's Mother didn't think much of it. She took one more look at Chen Cheng before withdrawing her gaze and inviting Gu Jia inside.

"Come in."

Gu Jia exhaled and followed Muzi's Mother into the house.

Entering the living room, she saw three or four women and five or six children playing there.

But as Gu Jia scanned the room, she didn't see her son, Xu Ziyan.

"Where is Xu Ziyan?" she asked.

A middle-aged woman in a green shirt looked at Gu Jia nervously and said as casually as possible, "He was just here, playing with everyone."

Chen Cheng let out a scoff. He looked around to determine the layout of the house and then walked toward the inner bedroom area.

Suddenly, the sound of a child crying and shouting came from that direction. "Let me out! Let me out!"

Gu Jia was startled. Seeing Chen Cheng's back, she immediately followed him.

Following the sound, Chen Cheng quickly found the room.

Xu Ziyan was banging on the door while crying, "Let me out! Let me out!"

Gu Jia pushed past Chen Cheng and called out anxiously against the door, "Ziyan! Ziyan!"

She pulled the handle a few times and found it was locked. She turned around and snapped at Muzi's Mother in a rage:

"Open the door!"

Muzi's Mother's eyes were evasive. She hadn't figured out how to explain or brush this off yet.

She remained silent, hesitating.

A cold sneer curled on Chen Cheng's lips as he looked at this despicable woman who took her anger out on a child. "Will you open it yourself, or do I kick the door down?"

His smile was chilling. "False imprisonment is no small crime, especially when it involves a minor."

"Sending you inside for a few years wouldn't be a problem at all."

Muzi's Mother panicked instantly, her eyes turning dull with shock.

Gu Jia had already lost her patience. "Open the door!"
