Plus, Chen Zhong was getting up there in age.

He started to get nostalgic, started to regret how he acted when he was young.

Chen Cheng could tell he was very guilty.

But the current Chen Cheng couldn't care less about these things.

He didn't know if the old man held any grudges against his own brother.

Even if he did, he wouldn't forgive on his father's behalf.

If they wanted forgiveness, they could go ask the person themselves later.

In fact, Chen Cheng made both him and Liu Rong feel very uncomfortable today.

He didn't bring up any old matters, acting completely sincere instead.

The more magnanimous Chen Cheng behaved, the worse they felt.

During lunch, Liu Rong mentioned something about the past, but Chen Zhong glared her back into silence.

As for Chen Cheng, he never really had any feelings for matters in this family.

There was no resentment or hatred to speak of.

Especially since he had lived two lives.

Anyway, in this family, he only really had feelings for Chen Min.

As for Chen Chengs Mother's family, the grandmother's side, let's not even bring that up.

...

Around seven o'clock, just as the sun was peeking out, Liu Rong and Tang Ping came over.

Seeing Chen Cheng sitting by the side of the road, Liu Rong walked over.

"Chen Cheng, why are you sitting here? The morning dampness is quite heavy."

Chen Cheng turned his head to look at the two, greeting them with a smile, "Aunt, Aunt, Happy New Year."

Both nodded with beaming smiles, "Chen Cheng, Happy New Year."

Chen Cheng smiled, "It's fine, isn't the sun coming out now? I'm just soaking up some sun."

Tang Ping and Liu Rong exchanged a look and nodded, "Then you sit there, your Aunt and I will go boil some poached eggs."

Chen Cheng nodded faintly, "Okay~"

The two smiled, turned around, and went into the courtyard.

Chen Cheng smiled faintly as he watched their retreating figures, then turned back to continue watching the rising sun.

Suddenly, he raised an eyebrow, remembering that on the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year, one had to set off the 'opening door firecrackers'.

He stood up and went to the storage room in the courtyard; Chen Zhong had prepared the firecrackers.

Last night, the fireworks that the kids hadn't finished setting off were also still in the storage room.

He took them out and rolled them to the side of the road where he had just been sitting.

He remembered he didn't have a lighter, so he turned his head and waved at the black Yukon parked at the edge of the courtyard.

Jimmy, wearing a black trench coat and a white turtleneck sweater, immediately got out of the passenger seat and ran over.

"Boss~"

Chen Cheng reached out his hand to him, "Lighter."

Jimmy hurriedly fished the lighter out of his coat pocket and handed it to Chen Cheng.

Chen Cheng looked at Jimmy's bald head and smiled, "Perhaps you should step back a bit."

Jimmy was a bit confused but still stepped back two paces, though clearly not far enough.

Chen Cheng held back a laugh and curled his lips; never mind, once the firecrackers went off, he'd back away on his own.

Chen Cheng walked to the end of the firecracker fuse and lit it.

In an instant, the crackling explosions burst into the quiet air.

In a flash, Jimmy dodged and jumped back two meters.

Chen Cheng watched his reaction and laughed uncharitably.

It wasn't Jimmy on duty last night, or he would have already seen it.

The ten-thousand-count string didn't take long; it finished in a minute.

Chen Cheng returned the lighter to Jimmy and sat back down in his previous spot.

Watching the sun start to peek out in the east, he slowly actually fell asleep.

He didn't know how much time had passed.

Feeling someone patting him, Chen Cheng slowly woke up.

"Why did you fall asleep here?"

Looking at the person in front of him, fully armed and wrapped up tightly, a smile immediately appeared on Chen Cheng's lips.

He raised his hand to check his watch, "It's so early, why are you here?"

The person who came was Qiao Jingjing.

Qiao Jingjing was wearing a light coffee-colored beanie and a mask; most people really wouldn't recognize her.

Qiao Jingjing took off her mask, lifted her chin, and said in a soft, sweet voice, "Today for New Year's greetings, a huge wave of people will come to my house, and my parents also have to go pay New Year's greetings to others."

"Whether I stay at home or go with them to pay New Year's greetings, it's all very troublesome."

"So I just came directly to find you."

Chen Cheng's lips curved slightly; it was only past nine o'clock.

Qiao Jingjing clearly had this planned; she had made an excuse and run away from home early in the morning.

He reached out and pulled her to sit on his lap, "How did you get here?"

Qiao Jingjing raised her finger and pointed at the silver GLE parked on the side of the courtyard, "Of course I drove here; I couldn't have walked here."

As she spoke, Qiao Jingjing frowned, leaned in to sniff him, and immediately did a tactical lean back, "Why do you smell like cigarettes? Don't you not smoke?"

Chen Cheng laughed, "I played mahjong with my cousins all night; they were the ones smoking."

Qiao Jingjing pursed her lips in disgust, "Then go wash up quickly."

Chen Cheng's lips curled into a wicked smile, and with a pull of his hand, Qiao Jingjing fell onto him.

Chen Cheng pressed his lips against her red ones.

After a long while, they parted, and Qiao Jingjing finally realized what happened and cried out.

"Ah, Chen Cheng, it stinks, it stinks."

She jumped off his lap as she spoke.

Chen Cheng was amused by her slowness.

He laughed twice, stopped smiling, and stood up, "Let's go, time to introduce the new bride to the house."

Qiao Jingjing's fair face immediately flushed crimson, "Who is the bride? Don't talk nonsense. Be careful or I'll sue you for slander."

Chen Cheng shook his head with a smile and carried the chair toward the courtyard gate.

Qiao Jingjing quickly followed him happily, "Wait a second."

Chen Cheng paused and watched her walk toward her car.

He immediately understood that she had brought something.

Opening the trunk, Qiao Jingjing asked while carrying the items: "Is this the new house you built? It looks quite pretty."

Chen Cheng: "How is it? Is it enough to marry a new bride?"

Qiao Jingjing immediately rolled her eyes at him, "Then how do you plan to introduce me?"

Chen Cheng smiled, "You'll know in a bit."

He changed the subject, "By the way, you just went back last night, and you ran off early this morning. Do I need to go over to your mother-in-law and father-in-law's place to apologize one of these days?"

Qiao Jingjing immediately stopped in her tracks, rolled her eyes, and shook her head like a rattle-drum.

"That's not needed, no need for that."

She really didn't know how to tell her family about her chaotic relationship with Chen Cheng.

Well, mostly it was Chen Cheng who was chaotic.

But she had accepted it...

Entering the courtyard, passing the dining room, Chen Cheng dropped the chair on the covered corridor.

He pulled Qiao Jingjing into the dining room.

He had just seen through the window that Tang Ping, Liu Rong, Chen Min, Zuo Pei, and Zhu Zhe were all there.

The dining room had an open-concept island in the Western-style kitchen; one person was cooking, while the others were gathered around looking to see if any of last night's leftovers were suitable for breakfast.

Chen Min, Zuo Pei, Chen Li, and the others hadn't returned to the village and had slept in the rooms above the dining room.

Hearing the door open, they all turned to look.

Immediately, everyone's eyes widened.

Zhu Zhe knew who it was at a glance.

And Zuo Pei and Chen Min clearly recognized this big star from the local area.

Zuo Pei looked at Qiao Jingjing, then at Chen Cheng, and then at their joined hands.

Her eyes were wide round, and it took her a long time to recover and look at Chen Cheng.

"Chen Cheng, no introduction?"

Chen Cheng couldn't hold back the smile on his face as he watched their reactions.

Yan Zu, who often dated celebrity girlfriends, knew that this was the effect he wanted.

He looked at Tang Ping and Liu Rong, "Aunt, Aunt, this is Jingjing, my girlfriend."

Tang Ping and Liu Rong were both stunned; he brought back three yesterday, and another one today?

It was Chen Min who tugged at Tang Ping's sleeve, and only then did Tang Ping snap out of it.

"Oh~ Jingjing, hello, hello."

Qiao Jingjing's pretty face was shy, and a timid smile hung on her lips, "Aunt, Happy New Year, Happy New Year."

She lifted the Ejiao and American ginseng gift boxes in her hand, "This is a gift I brought for you; I hope you like it."

Tang Ping also responded, "Happy New Year, Happy New Year," and while speaking, she tugged at Chen Min.

Chen Min understood in a second and turned to go out the side door.

Tang Ping happily took the gift, "It's enough that you came; why bring gifts? You're too polite."

"..."

The two exchanged a few pleasantries.

Qiao Jingjing smiled and bowed slightly toward Liu Rong, "Aunt, Happy New Year."

With this greeting, Liu Rong also reacted, smiling broadly as she took the gift, "Jingjing, hello, hello."

But inside, she was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.

Tang Ping had someone to help her get a red envelope, but her son and daughter weren't there; who could she find?

She couldn't just run back to get it herself right now.

She would just have to make up for it later.

This Chen Cheng, really, how many has he found?

Chen Cheng hadn't even imagined this situation and started introducing Qiao Jingjing.

"This is Zuo Pei, my sister-in-law."

"..."

Then there was Zhu Zhe; Qiao Jingjing smiled brightly, "Sister Zhu, hello, hello."

"Jingjing, hello, hello, you are so beautiful."

"Ah, really? I think Sister Zhu is also very elegant."

Watching the two women holding hands and exchanging polite compliments, not only Zuo Pei, but also Tang Ping and Liu Rong were numb.

The three of them stared wide-eyed at Chen Cheng.

They didn't know what kind of magic this kid had to make so many beautiful girls favor him.

And they didn't even mind his blatant 'three wives and four concubines' feudal legacy.

After a while, Chen Min returned.

She handed a red envelope each to Tang Ping and Liu Rong.

Liu Rong looked at the red envelope and smiled very brightly.

At least at this moment, she was grateful to Chen Min for helping her out of a tight spot.

Qiao Jingjing looked at the two red envelopes being handed over and turned to look at Chen Cheng.

Chen Cheng smiled, "Aunt and Aunt are giving them to you, so just take them."
