Chen Cheng was taken aback for a moment, looked at her, and said, "Let him in. Bring in two cups of coffee."
Li Na acknowledged and withdrew.
Chen Cheng thought for a moment, then stood up and walked to the window.
Not long after, Li Na brought Yu Tu in.
Chen Cheng turned around, looked at Yu Tu, and a smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
It was the person from the corner of his memory; a bit handsome, but not Prince Duan.
Yu Tu walked up to Chen Cheng, and both of them smiled.
Chen Cheng reached out and shook his hand. "Long time no see."
"Long time no see."
Chen Cheng smiled and pointed to a recliner by his leg. "Sit."
Yu Tu looked at the recliner, paused slightly, but sat down anyway.
Chen Cheng's mouth curved slightly as he sat on the recliner next to him.
This pair of chairs was specially chosen by Chen Cheng because he wanted to lie by the window and look at the scenery.
Chen Cheng broke the silence. "I heard you were working at the Aerospace Research Institute?"
"Why did you resign?"
Yu Tu smiled sheepishly. "I'm getting older, and I wanted to make some practical choices."
Li Na brought in the coffee. Yu Tu nodded in thanks. "Thank you."
Li Na returned the smile, placed Chen Cheng's cup on the small tea stool, and quietly withdrew.
Chen Cheng smiled and picked up his coffee. "Try this. It's a Colombian Ospina Gran, a gift from a friend."
Yu Tu smiled and nodded, picked up his cup, and took a sip. "Does it have a hint of jasmine?"
Chen Cheng smiled. "Your nose is quite sharp."
"It's alright," Yu Tu shrugged.
Chen Cheng put down his coffee, raised an eyebrow, and said, "I definitely have no doubts about your work ability."
"But have you really thought this through?"
Yu Tu pondered for two seconds and nodded. "Yes!"
Chen Cheng was taken aback and looked at him. "Are you that short on money?"
Yu Tu shook his head. "A while ago, my mother got sick and came to Magic City for treatment."
"To save money, I found a small hostel near the hospital for 50 yuan a night."
"When I came back from a business trip to see her and looked at the moldy walls..."
As he spoke, Yu Tu couldn't continue.
Chen Cheng sighed. This was probably the dilemma of many middle-aged people.
Especially the fear of parents getting sick when one feels powerless.
Actually, Yu Tu was better off; at least he didn't have children yet.
"Is your mother okay?"
Yu Tu forced a smile. "She's fine. After the check-up, they found no major issues."
Chen Cheng nodded. "That's good."
"Single?" Chen Cheng suddenly raised an eyebrow and asked.
"Yes," Yu Tu replied indifferently, looking at the scenery outside the window.
"Did you break up with Xia Qing?"
"You remember?" Yu Tu was a bit surprised. Chen Cheng had been like an invisible person in class; he didn't expect Chen Cheng to remember his gossip.
Chen Cheng chuckled. "I have a very good memory."
Yu Tu was taken aback, then smiled again.
"We broke up after graduating from college."
Chen Cheng frowned. Back then, Yu Tu had said he wanted to find someone to strive with, and then chose the second-ranked student in the class, Xia Qing, as his girlfriend.
After graduating from college, Yu Tu went off to study for a postgraduate degree in aerospace design, and Xia Qing immediately broke up with him.
How could aerospace possibly be as profitable as finance?
Come to think of it, the two of them were actually quite similar, equally utilitarian.
Thinking about it, in the original plot, he returned to the research institute because Guan Zai was sick.
It wasn't just because of his dreams.
It was also because Guan Zai had cleared a position for him, opening up a path for advancement.
And with Qiao Jingjing, that silly girl with a generous dowry, throwing herself at him, he had even more confidence to pursue his dreams.
Chen Cheng smiled. Thinking about it carefully, beneath the sweet couple dynamic was also poison.
Not hearing Chen Cheng speak, Yu Tu thought Chen Cheng was interested in Xia Qing's situation and continued, "She is also in an Investment Bank now, doing quite well. I heard she was just promoted to Director."
Chen Cheng nodded. Being the same age as him and rising to Director was indeed a very impressive qualification.
In the Investment Bank ranking system: Analyst, Manager, Vice President, Director, Executive Director, Managing Director.
If Xia Qing has been promoted to Director, in Company Name, her position is higher than Wu Kezhi's, equivalent to a Department Director.
Equivalent to the positions of Wang Yundong, Ma Jianguo, and others, D, which means Director.
General Manager's TMT department is a bit special; her position is also one level higher than other directors, Executive Director ED.
Chen Cheng smiled and turned to look at him. "If the research institute were to promote you soon, and you still had the possibility of becoming the youngest Chief Designer, would you still come here, or would you still want to work in finance?"
Yu Tu was stunned. "Promote me?"
Chen Cheng nodded. "Yes," he smiled. "I just think it's a pity for you to resign like this and come out to restart in finance."
"Ask yourself for your own sake."
"That is the dream of the stars and the sea."
Chen Cheng could think Yu Tu was utilitarian, but he wouldn't deny Yu Tu's dreams.
People are complex; no one is without flaws.
Yu Tu isn't, Chen Cheng isn't, and even Confucius isn't.
A smile appeared on Yu Tu's face; it was a smile of being affirmed.
Yu Tu fell into thought and didn't speak for a long time.
Chen Cheng thought about it and still felt he should persuade him.
"Actually, I haven't been paying much attention to finance or company matters lately; I've been busy with other things."
"Um... research in Artificial Intelligence."
Yu Tu was very smart and immediately understood the intention behind Chen Cheng's words. He smiled. "Thank you."
Chen Cheng already understood and shrugged. "Alright."
Actually, from Yu Tu's perspective, you have financial freedom to pursue your dreams.
But I'm penniless, and you want to talk to me about dreams? About spiritual pursuits?
Anyone can talk to me about this, but you, Chen Cheng, simply cannot.
Chen Cheng picked up his coffee. "Happy cooperation."
Yu Tu held his coffee, revealing a shy smile. "Does this mean I passed the interview?"
Chen Cheng nodded. "Although I really hope you can return to the research institute and don't want the motherland's aerospace industry to lose one of its youngest chief designers."
"But I still have to respect your personal wishes, right?"
Yu Tu was very straightforward. Without hesitation, he raised his coffee and clinked it with Chen Cheng's. "Happy cooperation."
Chen Cheng was taken aback, then smiled. "Welcome to Company Name."
The two of them clinked cups using coffee instead of alcohol and each took a sip.
Chen Cheng put down his coffee cup, lay back in the chair, and looked at the bustling Financial Street outside the window. After thinking for a moment, his gaze still turned toward the direction of the building where Company Name was located.
"Forget about quantitative trading; how about going to Company Name's venture capital department?"
"I just set up a 200 million USD special fund for the venture capital department, and I happen to need talent with a science and engineering background."
Yu Tu was taken aback. Going into investment didn't match his expectations.
Looking at Chen Cheng, who was gazing calmly out the window, Yu Tu still chose to agree. "Okay."
Chen Cheng smiled and raised an eyebrow. "Don't you want to ask about the compensation?"
Yu Tu smiled. "It should be higher than the research institute, right?"
