Zou Yu left the room, listening to the unbridled sounds of lovemaking coming from across the hall.
A flush instantly crept up her face. "Pah, what a scumbag."
She hurried downstairs, afraid she might actually lose control, burst through the door, and give Chen Cheng, that scumbag, a piece of her mind.
He said he would stay with her last night, but when she woke up this morning, he was nowhere to be seen.
Not seeing him was one thing, but to let me hear those sounds?
It was infuriating.
Chen Cheng was enjoying himself and had no idea about Zou Yu's mood.
Even if he did, he couldn't attend to everyone.
Unless...
When Chen Cheng came downstairs with Anna, Zou Yu was sitting in the dining room, eating breakfast at a leisurely pace.
En Hui had made it.
Anna's little assistant was quite capable. Besides taking care of Anna's daily life, she also helped her take photos and edit her vlogs.
Chen Cheng walked over to Zou Yu, leaned down, and kissed her on the cheek. "Good morning."
Zou Yu's hand froze mid-meal. She looked at Anna and En Hui, who were staring at her, her face turning as red as an apple.
"Sister, hello," Anna greeted her naturally.
Zou Yu was even more bewildered. She forced a smile, nodded, and said in English, "Good morning!"
Chen Cheng's lips curled slightly as he pulled out the chair next to her and sat down.
En Hui immediately brought over some tableware.
Anna was wearing a white camisole nightgown underneath a nude-colored sheer robe, and she sat opposite Chen Cheng with a smile on her face.
The atmosphere at the dining table was strange.
Chen Cheng ate his breakfast quickly.
Because of the damn reward the system gave him, he had a lot of things to take care of now.
Ignoring the strange atmosphere between the two women, Chen Cheng left after finishing breakfast.
First, he went back to Ode to Joy.
Everyone else had already gone to work, but Ye Zhenzhen hadn't left yet.
Needless to say, it was another round of diligent comforting.
After Ye Zhenzhen was satisfied, she left for the laboratory in high spirits.
At noon, Chen Cheng called Lucy to come home for lunch.
The two of them had lunch at Binjiang Garden, acting all lovey-dovey, and took a nap afterward.
In the afternoon, Chen Cheng appeared at the Shangpu Hotel.
He didn't use his old tricks; he simply called Zhu Zhe openly.
His previous surprise tactics didn't work anymore because they were no longer effective.
Ever since Chen Cheng pulled his little stunt last time, Zhu Zhe had become cautious. Whenever a guest asked for her, she would verify their information immediately.
In the evening, he went to pick up Guan Juer from work.
The next day, it was Qin Shi, Xiao Ye, and Andy.
Chen Cheng even started to feel like he had provoked too many people.
But two days later, Chen Cheng had forgotten all about that feeling.
During the day, he handled Zen Ai's affairs, and at night, he picked his favorites.
Scum Cheng was becoming a bit addicted to it.
Gao Yue and Lin Dawei were helping handle some of Zen Ai's miscellaneous tasks.
There was a mountain of miscellaneous tasks, including recruiting, finding temporary office space, office equipment, and supplies.
Chen Cheng wasn't in a rush to start project development with the employees who had already arrived.
He arranged for some of the more senior programmers to work on the company's official website.
"Knock, knock, knock~"
"Come in~"
One day, Chen Cheng was in his office reviewing resumes.
Lin Dawei knocked on the door and entered.
"Brother Lin, sit down." Chen Cheng waved his hand.
Lin Dawei, dressed in a beige suit, placed the documents in his hand in front of Chen Cheng and sat down.
"The tender for the design of the Boundary Exploration headquarters base has been issued by the bidding company, and the public notice period is three days."
Boundary Exploration was the Chinese name proposed by the advertising agency when they were designing the brand for Zen Ai, and Chen Cheng liked it, so he used it.
Chen Cheng opened the file and quickly flipped through the tender documents.
"The design cycle is 21 days, which means the official bid opening is on November 10th."
Chen Cheng calculated the time in his head. He was in a rush, but being anxious wouldn't help.
Whether it was the servers or the team, everything needed time.
After thinking for a moment, he said, "Draw up a timeline and see if we can officially move in by June next year."
Lin Dawei nodded. "Right, we've already roughly mapped out a timeline internally. Theoretically, it shouldn't be a problem, but it still depends on the engineering difficulties."
Chen Cheng said, "Prepare the equipment procurement in advance. Energy storage, diesel generators, and most importantly, the temperature control system—cooling the Data Center is the core."
Chen Cheng had actually considered renovating an existing industrial park, but he ultimately gave up on the idea.
It was better to build it himself; it was more convenient and would leave room for future upgrades.
As it happened, there was still a long way to go in terms of development.
He could exploit the time difference.
Li Na walked in carrying a teacup and placed it in front of Lin Dawei.
Lin Dawei nodded with a smile. "Thank you, Assistant Li."
Li Na nodded with a smile and exited the office.
Turning back, Lin Dawei replied to Chen Cheng, "I've made a note of it. I'll have someone coordinate the requirements with the programmers, then filter the quotes and send them over."
Chen Cheng nodded. Lin Dawei wasn't exactly lightning-fast in how he did things, but he was meticulous.
Chen Cheng couldn't find any faults in the documents that passed through his hands.
He had a way of handling both superiors and subordinates. Originally, there were employees in the Company Name's administration department who didn't respect him. After firing two and having heart-to-hearts with three others, the rest all fell in line.
After finishing the business discussion, Lin Dawei asked with a smile, "How is that girl Zhao Rui doing over there?"
Chen Cheng smiled. "She's in good spirits. The surgery is scheduled for next month, and she's been attending language classes lately."
"I was too busy during this last trip; I was on the West Coast the whole time and didn't fly over to see her."
"How about it, Brother Lin? Have you considered letting Miao Miao study abroad too?"
Mentioning Lin Miaomiao suddenly caught Lin Dawei off guard. He hesitated for two seconds before dismissing the idea.
"Let's just leave it to fate. Wherever she gets in, she gets in. Forcing her when she doesn't have the ability puts too much pressure on the child."
Chen Cheng's mouth twitched. Lin Miaomiao had finished dead last in her monthly exam last month.
Wang Shengnan had absolutely exploded.
She was practically dying to watch Lin Miaomiao study 24/7.
On the contrary, Lin Dawei had always been very Zen about it and hadn't put any pressure on Lin Miaomiao.
Lin Miaomiao was currently going through a rebellious phase; she had learned from somewhere and was obsessed with becoming an internet celebrity.
She was even sneaking around to livestream every night.
Chen Cheng smiled. "That's true."
After the two chatted for a while, Lucy arrived.
Lucy was temporarily serving as the CFO of Boundary Exploration.
Her office was still at Company Name, as she was just helping out temporarily.
"I've crunched the numbers. Based on your budget for server procurement, the remaining 700 million in funds, after subtracting the base construction and equipment procurement costs, will probably only last for a year."
"The plan is to start server upgrades by the end of next year. By then, the funding gap will reach 300 to 400 million USD."
"This project should be able to get some subsidies, and I'll arrange for the applications when the time comes."
"But that's just a drop in the bucket; it won't be much."
As expected, he was already getting a headache over funding before they had even really started.
Lucy looked at Chen Cheng, who had a heavy expression, and tentatively asked, "Should we slow down the server upgrade speed, or reduce this batch of procurement?"
"Since we'll be upgrading soon anyway, the time gap is only about half a year."
"As for the computing power issue, I've researched it, and it can be solved via the cloud."
Chen Cheng shook his head. How could he possibly train such an important model using someone else's servers?
With a grave expression, he tapped his fingers lightly on the desk. "The procurement plan remains unchanged. As for the money, I'll figure something out."
