Chen Cheng sat in the car and picked up his phone to see the new hot topic pushed by Karen.
#White-Haired Father Tragically Abandoned, Retired Elderly Help Seek Justice
The video showed a group of retired old men and women going to the Zhen Cheng office to demand an explanation.
Chen Cheng frowned; he already felt that someone behind the scenes was fishing in troubled waters.
Otherwise, a lawyer alone would never have the ability to mobilize media resources so efficiently.
Who was it?
Lin Qizheng?
No, the eldest young master of Zhilin's investment had just imploded, and that hole would require the entire Zhilin Group's cash flow to fill. Lin Qizheng should be too busy looking after himself right now.
“...”
So, who could it be?
Chen Cheng frowned and sent a message back to Karen, [Find out who is fishing in troubled waters.]
[I'm checking. I already have some leads.]
[It seems to be forces from the Beijing circle. The mainstream media leading the charge are from the Beijing circle.]
The Beijing circle... Chen Cheng's gaze sharpened.
Did what Lucy did get exposed?
Li Qixing? Li Xun?
No, that's not right either. Li Xun doesn't have the ability to orchestrate this.
As he thought about it, Chen Cheng suddenly realized he had overlooked one power.
Yi An!
[Check if it's the Han Family from Yi An.]
Karen didn't reply but instead forwarded a new news link.
The headline read: [Glamorous Assistant Abandons Biological Father, Beautiful Lawyer Aids and Abets the Wicked]
Opening the link, Chen Cheng saw Zou Yu and Li Na being besieged by reporters at the hospital entrance.
Li Na was wearing a gray knit top, a black low-slit pencil skirt, high heels, and sunglasses.
She carried a small handbag and held a linen-colored trench coat in her arms.
Her outfit could be described as very fashionable.
Zou Yu, on the other hand, was dressed in a very simple black suit skirt.
Eleven and a Bodyguard shielded the two of them in the middle.
Combined with their outstanding looks, the visual impact of the scene was even stronger.
They even have Bodyguards, yet they aren't willing to support their biological father. Just how wicked and malicious can a person be?
At this moment, Chen Cheng's furrowed brow actually smoothed out.
Where would an old man with no status get so many reporters lying in wait for him?
It was clearly a deliberate setup.
In other words, it was aimed at Zhen Cheng—or rather, at Chen Cheng himself.
A playful smile appeared on Chen Cheng's cold face.
After some thought, he made a few phone calls.
At 5:30 PM, Chen Cheng's motorcade appeared in the courtyard of an Old Western-style house on Kangwu Road.
This was the site of a private club, with a quiet environment and luxurious decor.
Chen Cheng turned to look at the somewhat haggard Li Na. "Have you calmed down?"
Li Na brushed back a stray lock of hair, let out a sigh, and nodded. "Yes."
Chen Cheng patted her hand and then turned to look at Zou Yu.
Zou Yu fearlessly raised an eyebrow at him, a faint smile on her lips.
A faint smile curled on Chen Cheng's lips as he stepped out of the car.
The club manager was already waiting by the car door.
"Mr. Chen."
Chen Cheng simply gave a faint nod and waited for Zou Yu and Li Na to get out of the car.
He led the way toward the club entrance.
Li Na and Zou Yu followed behind him on either side. Looking at his tall, upright back, a distinct glint appeared in both their eyes.
The club manager led them upstairs, stopped in front of a private room, knocked gently, and pushed the door open.
Chen Cheng immediately recognized Feng Yin, who was sitting directly facing the door.
The director of Quanjing Law Firm—Robin's boss.
As for the two people beside him, Chen Cheng also found them somewhat familiar.
However, the face of one of them changed drastically upon seeing Li Na and Zou Yu following behind Chen Cheng.
Seeing that the visitor was Chen Cheng, Feng Yin immediately stood up with a smile to greet him.
"Chairman Chen, I have heard so much about you."
Chen Cheng laughed. "Oh, Director Feng, you're far too kind."
"Your reputation in the legal world is truly legendary."
The two shook hands and exchanged a few pleasantries before Feng Yin introduced the middle-aged woman beside him to Chen Cheng.
"This is Liao Jiamin from Longke Law Firm, Attorney Liao."
Chen Cheng smiled and extended his hand. "Hello, Attorney Liao."
Liao Jiamin reached out and shook Chen Cheng's large hand, laughing. "Chairman Chen is much more handsome in person than on the magazine covers." She glanced at Feng Yin. "Those foreigners still lack an appreciation for Eastern aesthetics."
Chen Cheng laughed along. "Attorney Liao, your praise is making me feel like I'm walking on air."
Liao Jiamin chuckled and slowly withdrew her smile. Releasing Chen Cheng's hand, she stepped aside. "Let me introduce you, Chairman Chen. This is a partner at our Longke firm, Liu Yingmei, Attorney Liu."
Still smiling, Chen Cheng extended his hand toward the middle-aged man in the black suit. "Hello, Attorney Liu."
"Hello, Chairman Chen." Liu Yingmei's voice was weak, and he seemed to lack confidence.
Feng Yin and Liao Jiamin also greeted Li Na. Since they were old acquaintances, they weren't very formal.
Li Na introduced Zou Yu to the two of them.
Feng Yin invited everyone to take a seat.
"Sit, please, everyone sit."
He pulled out a chair next to where he had been sitting and smiled at Chen Cheng. "Come, Chairman Chen, please sit."
Chen Cheng nodded with a smile. "You're too kind, Director Feng."
Zou Yu and Li Na sat to Chen Cheng's right, while Liao Jiamin and Liu Yingmei sat to Feng Yin's left.
Chen Cheng sat down, his gaze sweeping calmly over the faces of Feng Yin, Liao Jiamin, and Liu Yingmei.
The relationships among these three were intertwined. Feng Yin and Liao Jiamin were a couple who never made it to the altar and were both still single.
Liao Jiamin's Longke firm was located right above Quanjing. She specialized in going against Quanjing, taking on cases from their opponents.
As for Liu Yingmei, he had started at Longke. His relationship with Liao Jiamin was similar to that of Robin and Feng Yin—she was his former boss and mentor. Otherwise, he wouldn't have shown up today.
Chen Cheng didn't care what Feng Yin had to offer to persuade Liao Jiamin.
With a playful smile on his face, Chen Cheng looked at Liu Yingmei and activated his Incubus Aura for the first time.
"Attorney Liu, let's get straight to the point."
Liu Yingmei cleared his throat, his demeanor relaxed. "Chairman Chen, please, go ahead."
In fact, when he arrived and saw how Feng Yin and Liao Jiamin were acting as if they were facing a formidable foe, he knew that things had already spiraled out of his control.
But having been in the game for so long, he had seen all sorts of characters.
He wasn't intimidated.
No, he wasn't intimidated at all.
Chen Cheng gave a brilliant smile. "The elderly people who went to my company to demand an explanation—you organized them, didn't you?"
Feng Yin and Liao Jiamin were both taken aback and instinctively looked at Liu Yingmei.
You really have some nerve, hiring people to cause a scene at an opponent's workplace.
Fine beads of sweat immediately broke out on Liu Yingmei's forehead. "You organized them, didn't you?" replayed incessantly in his mind.
The voice in his head kept repeating, growing more and more urgent.
Liu Yingmei's lip twitched as he forced himself to remain calm. "What elderly people? I don't know what you're talking about."
His tone was flat, and he even managed a smile after speaking.
The corners of Feng Yin and Liao Jiamin's mouths twitched. If it wasn't you, why are you acting so guilty?
Chen Cheng let out a cold laugh. "Oh? Is that so?"
He turned to Feng Yin. "Director Feng, I didn't study law. Perhaps you could clear something up for me."
Feng Yin nodded with a smile. "Please, Chairman Chen, go ahead."
Chen Cheng narrowed his eyes and stared at Liu Yingmei. "Should a lawyer be held responsible for inciting litigation?"
