Hanging up the phone, Chen Cheng decisively got out of the car and returned to the hotel alone.
He asked the Bodyguard to buy two cups of coffee and a bouquet of flowers.
When a woman tells you to wait a moment because she wants to put on a "little bit" of makeup,
if you actually believe the words "little bit," then you're truly slow-witted.
That so-called "wait a moment" always starts at thirty minutes.
Walking into Zou Yu's courtyard, Zou Yu looked up at Chen Cheng and said sourly, "Didn't you go to find your new girlfriend? Why are you back?"
Right now, Zou Yu was holding her laptop, sitting on a lounge chair reading the meeting minutes sent over from Li Na's side.
She needed to understand all of Chen Cheng's business, or at least know what was going on.
Otherwise, it would be easy to make low-level mistakes.
Chen Cheng sat down across from her carelessly. "She's at home, wanting to... put on a little bit of makeup."
Chen Cheng emphasized the words "little bit" very heavily.
Zou Yu giggled. "It seems your resentment is quite deep."
Chen Cheng rolled his eyes at her and ignored her.
He started chatting with Sun Xiang using the green bubble.
These past few days, Chen Cheng would switch accounts whenever he had time to chat with her for a while.
Exactly half an hour later, Chen Cheng switched back and saw a message Sun Xin had sent a minute ago.
[I'm ready.]
The corners of Chen Cheng's mouth curled up slightly as he stood up and rubbed Zou Yu's head.
"Work hard~ and make money."
"Oh, you messed up my hair again," Zou Yu huffed indignantly.
Chen Cheng chuckled and turned to leave the courtyard.
As he walked, he replied to Sun Xin's message: "Okay, then head out. I'll wait for you at the entrance of the alley."
Leaving the hotel, he drove and reached the entrance of Xiaoman Alley in a few minutes.
The coffee and flowers the Bodyguard bought were already placed in the cup holder and the passenger seat.
After waiting at the alley entrance for less than a minute, Chen Cheng saw Sun Xin wearing a sky-blue loose dress.
He rolled down the passenger window and waved at her.
Sun Xin looked at the white car and was stunned for a moment.
Once she clearly saw Chen Cheng in the driver's seat, a smile immediately spread across her face, and she ran over.
Watching her run toward him, Chen Cheng's lips curled into a smile.
"You changed cars?" Sun Xin asked casually as she opened the car door.
"Yeah," Chen Cheng nodded slightly. "The previous car belonged to the president of Company Name personally; I returned it to him."
Chen Cheng didn't explain the deeper reasons for not using someone else's car.
Opening the car door, Sun Xin saw the white roses on the seat, and her eyes immediately lit up.
With a smile on her lips, she picked up the flowers and sat in the car.
She closed the door and lowered her head to sniff them. "Mm, very fresh."
Chen Cheng smiled. "As long as you like it."
Sun Xin turned to place the flowers on the back seat, and as she turned back, she kissed Chen Cheng on the cheek.
Having succeeded in her sneak attack, she didn't fully pull back, remaining a fist's distance from Chen Cheng's cheek. Her red lips parted slightly as she said, "I missed you."
The corners of Chen Cheng's mouth curled up as he answered with action.
He tilted her chin up and kissed her red lips.
Like a volcanic eruption, Sun Xin wrapped her arms around Chen Cheng's neck and responded passionately.
While they were kissing, Chen Cheng used his hand to protect the coffee in the cup holder.
Otherwise, her solid sky-blue long dress would probably have been ruined.
They kissed for a while until their mouths felt a bit numb, then they finally pulled apart.
After both sat up straight, they turned to look at each other again.
With a smile, Chen Cheng looked over Sun Xin's 'dopamine' outfit again.
It was only because her skin was fair enough; otherwise, it would be really hard to pull off such a bright, solid-colored outfit.
[Sky-blue dress]
"How is my girlfriend so beautiful today? The dress is also very pretty; it really suits you."
Sun Xin's mouth curved into a crescent shape. She tilted her chin up with a hint of pride. "If you know how to praise, then praise me more."
Chen Cheng shook his head with a smile and then asked, "By the way, what's up? You didn't go to work today."
"Did you take the day off?"
"Mm~" Sun Xin hummed, blinked, and reached out to operate the navigation while saying:
"Let's start driving first; I'll tell you on the way."
Chen Cheng frowned; it seemed something unpleasant had happened.
Sun Xin set the navigation. "It's still early today; shall we go to the theme park?"
"There's a fireworks show tonight."
Since he was here to build up favorability anyway, Scum Cheng had no objections and nodded. "Okay~"
He shifted gears and drove onto the main road.
Chen Cheng pointed at the cup holder. "I bought coffee."
"Mm~" Sun Xin responded, took a sip of one cup, pondered for two seconds, and slowly began:
"I resigned."
Hmm?
Chen Cheng frowned. He remembered that Sun Xin hadn't been at her new job for long.
He asked softly, "What happened? Did someone bully you?"
Sun Xin shook her head. "No," she said with an awkward smile. "It's just that things were a bit awkward with my supervisor."
"I thought about it and decided to resign."
Chen Cheng understood immediately, but he didn't voice his realization.
He smiled. "If you've resigned, then so be it. I'll support you. Your boyfriend is rich; I can afford it."
"I promise to keep you well-fed and healthy."
"Pfft~" Sun Xin burst out laughing. She turned to look at Handsome Chen and blinked. "Aren't you going to ask why it was awkward?"
Chen Cheng chuckled. "Working for someone else is never happy from the moment you step out the door."
Sun Xin giggled. "If your employees knew their boss was so understanding of the common people's plight, they'd probably feel a strong sense of resonance."
After joking for a bit, Sun Xin cleared her throat and slowly began:
"My former supervisor likes me."
"That day you dropped me off at the office, I was Googling you."
"He happened to come over to call me for a meeting and saw it."
"I just told him straight out that you're my boyfriend."
The corners of Chen Cheng's mouth curled up; he was quite pleased that Sun Xin hadn't hidden it from him.
She could have easily not mentioned it and just said she felt the new job wasn't a good fit and was looking for something else.
But she told him the whole story exactly as it happened.
"He was fine, actually; he just went about his work and meetings as usual."
"But I felt a bit awkward and embarrassed."
"So I resigned."
Chen Cheng nodded. "If you weren't comfortable, then resigning was the right choice."
Sun Xin raised an eyebrow. "You don't mind that he likes me?"
Chen Cheng smiled faintly and glanced at her. "He had so many opportunities over all those years and still couldn't win you over."
"He couldn't even compare to twelve hours with your buddy."
A bright smile appeared on Sun Xin's face. "You're such a glib talker."
As she spoke, she caught the suggestive undertone in Scum Cheng's words. A blush crept onto her face, and she muttered, "Well, he really couldn't compare."
Chen Cheng thought for a moment and asked, "Do you want to work next?"
"If you don't want to, then don't. Your boyfriend can support you, rest assured."
Sun Xin pondered for two seconds. "I have to. If I don't work, I won't even be able to pay the household expenses to our Teacher Li."
Chen Cheng shook his head with a smile. He had forgotten that she and Sun Xiang lived at home and had to pay rent to Li Huifen every month.
It was only symbolic, though.
Sun Xin gave a thousand, and Sun Xiang gave five hundred.
However, Sun Xiang sometimes even needed Sun Xin to pay that five hundred for her.
This girl had a low salary and no concept of spending money, so she was basically broke every month.
Li Huifen just didn't want the two of them to idle their lives away.
There were children like that in the alley.
Thinking themselves old Beijingers, they were ambitious but lacked ability, just messing around everywhere.
Isn't that Chu Xiaoyu exactly like that?
