Chen Cheng arrived at the hospital parking lot in twenty minutes.

Although Xu Qin's villa was in the suburbs, Rochester was so small that it was only five or six kilometers from the city center to the edge of the city.

Chen Cheng looked at the emergency department hall in the distance and frowned.

Only then did he realize that there was absolutely no need for Xu Qin, a Ph.D. from UPenn, to come to such a cold and desolate place like Rochester.

Emergency medicine was a specialty that only shone in places with large populations.

Chen Cheng frowned, "Is there a deviation in the plot settings? Or is she just here to gild her resume?"

He shook his head again, dismissed the miscellaneous thoughts, pushed open the car door, and got out.

Walking into the emergency hall, just as Chen Cheng had expected, there weren't many people.

Chen Cheng took a glance and walked towards the nurse at the triage desk.

The nurse on duty was a slightly chubby young white girl wearing a blue nurse's uniform.

Chen Cheng smiled, "Hi, miss~"

The woman looked up, "Hi, sir, is there anything I can help you with?"

Chen Cheng pulled a white rose from the bouquet and handed it to the young woman, "For you~"

The woman's lips immediately curled into a smile, "Thank you."

Chen Cheng smiled, "I'm here to find Dr. Xu Qin."

The woman frowned, "Qing Xu?"

She thought carefully, then shook her head, "We don't have a doctor named Qing in our department."

Chen Cheng frowned, "Then can you help me check which department she is in?"

The woman frowned and looked at Chen Cheng with a measuring gaze.

Seeing Chen Cheng in a stylish coat, she could tell at a glance that he was from out of town.

In this weather, locals were already wearing thick down jackets.

When she saw the Rolex on Chen Cheng's wrist as he held the flowers, her eyes lit up.

Her father had one too, bought decades ago when he married her mother, and he treasured it like a Baby.

The woman pursed her lips, "Fine... for the sake of this rose."

Chen Cheng kept a smile on his face and nodded.

The woman searched for Xu Qin's name in the hospital system.

When she saw the Oriental face in Xu Qin's work photo in the system, a faint smile appeared on the woman's lips.

She turned to look at Chen Cheng and pointed towards the outpatient hall, "Qing is in the neurosurgery department."

She added, "Don't say I told you."

Chen Cheng smiled and nodded, "Of course. Thank you for your help."

After thanking her, Chen Cheng turned and went to the outpatient hall.

While looking at the various guide signs along the way, he thought about Xu Qin's situation.

Was it really a plot deviation?

Or was Xu Qin really more interested in emergency medicine, and after finishing her residency training here, she would return to switch to emergency medicine?

Chen Cheng pursed his lips, too lazy to think about it.

A medical degree graduate, no matter how it was managed.

Being able to pass USMLE step 1/2 and match into Mayo for residency training meant she wasn't a fraud, at the very least.

He didn't even dare to imagine if these rich second-generation kids studied medicine and also had fake qualifications...

That scene... was just too unbearable to look at; it would be no different from playing with human lives.

Chen Cheng went up to the third floor and found the neurosurgery triage desk.

He followed the same method, pulling off another flower to ask for directions; the bouquet he bought for Xu Qin on the way was almost falling apart because of him.

This time, a chubby Black girl was sitting at the triage desk.

"Qing is on rounds."

Chen Cheng glanced at the direction the girl pointed, turned back to thank her, and walked in the direction she indicated.

After passing a few wards, Chen Cheng saw Xu Qin, who was doing rounds.

It wasn't just Xu Qin; there were two African-American doctors, one man and one woman.

The middle-aged man with naturally curly hair looked like their leader.

Chen Cheng didn't go in directly; he stood in the hallway waiting for them to finish rounds.

He listened in for a few moments; the patient in the room had a cerebral aneurysm and needed an embolization procedure.

Xu Qin's leader was explaining the surgical risks to the patient and their family.

Even if the surgery was successful, there was a risk of future epileptic seizures.

After waiting a while, the African-American middle-aged man led the two out.

Xu Qin walked out of the ward and made eye contact with the Asian-faced Chen Cheng.

Seeing him looking at her as well, Xu Qin frowned, and while sizing him up, she asked tentatively in a low voice:

"Are you looking for me?"

Chen Cheng also sized her up. Xu Qin was wearing a white coat, with her long hair tied up behind her head.

A standard oval face with smooth contours; almond-shaped eyes, upturned eyebrows with the ends slightly drooping; a straight, prominent nose that wasn't overly sharp; and full, luscious lips.

You have to admit, she was indeed very beautiful.

[Gentlemen, post pictures, post pictures]

Her eyes and brows really did look a bit like Zou Yu's.

No wonder she was marketed as "Little Yifei."

Chen Cheng smiled and nodded, speaking directly in Chinese, "Yes~ But, work first."

Upon seeing Chen Cheng, Xu Qin had some guesses, but hearing Chinese still stunned her for a moment.

After two seconds of silence, Xu Qin nodded, "Okay," and then pointed to not far down the corridor, "There's a lounge over there."

Xu Qin's colleague was eyeing Chen Cheng with gleaming eyes.

The African-American middle-aged man and Chen Cheng nodded to each other, then turned and walked towards the next ward.

While following behind their leader, Xu Qin's colleague leaned closer to her and gossiped in a low voice, "Qing, your suitor?"

The African-American middle-aged man also pricked up his ears.

Xu Qin hurriedly shook her head, "Claire, NO, I don't know him at all."

Claire gave Xu Qin an ambiguous look, not believing a word she said.

Chen Cheng sat in the lounge area waiting for over half an hour before Xu Qin came over after finishing rounds.

"Hello?"

Hearing the voice, Chen Cheng, who was looking at the snow scene outside the window, turned back to look at her.

He smiled, "Just call me Chen Cheng."

Xu Qin frowned, "Is there something you need from me?"

"Oh~ Teacher Ouyang asked me to come and see you."

Xu Qin's eyes widened, "Aunt?"

Chen Cheng nodded, "I'm here on a business trip, and Teacher asked me to check on you. By the way, I brought you the New Year's goods your family prepared for you."

Xu Qin immediately perked up, her eyes shining, "You brought stuff?"

Chen Cheng nodded, "Yeah, I went to your place earlier, and seeing you weren't there, I came straight to the hospital."

"Oh~ here, this is for you," Chen Cheng reached out and handed the bouquet on the coffee table next to him, which was almost falling apart from him pulling at it, to Xu Qin.

"Oh~ thank you," Xu Qin took the flowers and lowered her head to smell them. Her lips immediately curled upward; seeing fresh flowers in Rochester, Minnesota in winter was truly rare.

Mainly because she was too busy.

Xu Qin smiled and made eye contact with Scum Cheng, "Then wait for me a moment, I'll go change."

Chen Cheng smiled, "Okay."

Xu Qin smiled and turned to walk towards the office.

As she walked, she recalled their conversation just now, Chen Cheng's appearance, and his attire.

His facial contours were distinct, his eyes deep, his eyebrows like swords, and his nose bridge high.

Using 'sword-like eyebrows and starry eyes, handsome and dashing' to describe him was absolutely fine.

It's just that his skin tone was a bit dark; if he were fairer, he would definitely be a super Handsome guy that everyone loved.

However, he was not bad right now either.

A black wool coat, with a black sweater underneath, and black cargo pants wrapping around his long legs.

After seeing so many mixed-race Japanese, Korean, and Chinese people, this pure Chinese Handsome guy was truly pleasing to the eye no matter how she looked at him.

Putting on her down jacket and picking up her bag from her workstation, Xu Qin suddenly shivered.

She muttered to herself, "He wouldn't be someone Fu Wenyin sent to set me up on a blind date, would he?"

——Manual separator, the following is an aside

[There are many unreasonable settings in the plot, especially regarding the age of medical students, professional levels, etc. These are common flaws in urban dramas, and there are defects in professionalism. Therefore, follow Shadow-Jun's version. I'm writing it, so I call the shots.]

Based on the setting in the plot where Xu Qin can perform as a lead surgeon, she must have at least completed her residency training before returning to the country.

Otherwise, if she worked in China, she would have to undergo standardized residency training in a domestic hospital.

Then, according to the medical student training process here in the US.

Four years of undergraduate studies, four years of MD (doctorate), and passing USMLE 1/2 to participate in residency training. Residency training is generally three to five years. Internal medicine is three years, surgery is five years. The more difficult ones, like the neurosurgery department where Xu Qin is, require seven years of residency. Only then can one practice medicine independently, which means being a lead surgeon.

Calculating by this time, in the original drama, even if Xu Qin had been working in the emergency room the whole time, her medical training before returning to the country would have taken thirteen years. Counting from when she went abroad at seventeen or eighteen, she would already be thirty-two or thirty-three when she returned.

And that's just having barely passed the residency stage.

The original author wrote her as a senior doctor returning at twenty-eight, hahahaha.

I don't even dare to imagine what it would be like if I encountered such a 'genius doctor' in the emergency room.

Even a genius like Shaun Murphy in "The Good Doctor," after getting his MD degree, had to honestly complete his residency training.

It wasn't until his third year of residency that he independently completed a pediatric brain tumor resection under the guidance of the neurosurgery chief.

Surgical operations are built up by countless cases.

No matter how much of a genius you are, it's impossible to completely skip this stage.

It can only be said that people in that circle are both illiterate and arrogant.
